Walleye report Mississippi River Pool 4 Wabasha

Well I am back in Business. What along story so I won’t bore you. Thanks to the crack mechanics at S-M Marine My Suzuki is running like new again. Also a Great big Thank-you To Terry Smith at Al’s Specialty Marine for the great repair work on my Lund. She is sealed tight and running well.

The summer of 2004 is here and my favorite fisherman is down for the summer. Mike Anderson my 13 year old nephew arrived on the 29 of May. He wasted no time bagging his limit of walleyes. He is a jigging guru. Here is a photo of him with a limit of nice Wabasha walleyes.

The fish down here have been on a tear for the past three weeks and with the rising water it should be great for the next month.

Look for the fish to be shallow. Most of my fish the past three weeks have all been in 10 feet or less.

I have been mostly using crawlers with a few crankbaits thrown in. Fish are holding on the sand flats, the cuts and the rocks. So pick your poison and go get em.

I have not been using anything but 1/16 oz jigs.

The bigger jigs just seem to feed the fish and leave you cussing a swing and a miss.

I had the privilege of fishing with John & Annie Martin on Friday 6-4-04.

The fish were willing to be teased into taking crawler’s on lite jigs. We did have to work to get our 12 but we did it. Half of them came from the sand and the other from the rocks.

The weather was awesome and the boat traffic was almost nil. Wow pinch me am I really in Wabasha. So some people do work….

Here is a photo of John and Annie’s fish.

Thanks for the great day on the water you two are some awesome fisherman, and woman…

Well Saturday Mike and I fished in the Port of Call Tourney.

Wow what a fun time we banged lots of fish just couldn’t do the big bites.

With the forcast of Thunder storms and the river running so high and filled with junk, we had a great day and never got wet until the boat was back on the trailer.

Here is a photo of mike with his fish.

I would like to Thank Port of Call and Redwing Sports for the Rod and reel Mike won. He is thrilled and just loves it. He says it is the best ever. Thank-you Thank-you You have made on young man very happy.

With the water coming up still the bite is very good and it should stay and even get better.

There is still alot of junk coming down the lake and the river.

So be aware when your out running. Don’t need to wreck anything the bite is too good.

Becareful and hope to see you on the water.
