We set out this morning at 8am and knew there was a weather change coming with North West winds expected to blow. We had southerly winds to begin and some light rain which was no big deal and the fish were behaving catching 5 Walleyes around 7lbs each that were hitting Blade Baits along with swim baits before it came and when it came it was UGLY NW winds blowing 20 to 30 mph heavy rain blowing sideways that quickly changed to heavy wet snow and made things impossible to continue to fish so we called it a day until tomorrow.
Yesterday we had NE winds cooler temps but no white stuff coming down and once again the fish cooperated. We were targeting depths again between 17 and 20 FOW using blade baits from B-Fishin Tackle along with the Rapala Rippin Raps. In some of the areas that we are fishing I am also running succer minnows on the bottom for Pike.
We fished yesterday for a 5 hr trip catching 6 Walleyes along with 8 Northern Pike missing some pike as well that would take the baits and run a bit and drop them before we could set the hook. The Walleyes did not seem to be moving around a lot so when we found an area that they were we concentrated in that area to get our bites.
This has been such a fun spring for myself and everyone who has been fishing with me because we have been concentrating on exclusively casting for the walleyes as opposed to trolling. Please dont get me wrong trolling can be and is very effective and in a lot of cases it is the way to properly fish certain water but for those who do troll a lot and like to catch fish casting take some time this season to experiment casting some of your favorite trolling water I am confident that you will have a lot of fun and be amazed at the amount of fish you can catch many times catching way more fish than trolling.

Great job Paul!
2nd report in these past few days, each with big fish! Love the observations re: casting, and really like seeing all the quality fish you’re putting in the boat.

For anyone that has been following Paul’s post-spawn reports with interest but you weren’t quite sure what he was doing or how he was catching these BIG walleye, here’s some video.
Last week him filmed a post-spawn walleye segment with In-Depth Outdoors. Shallow post-spawn walleye on bass baits? Why not! Here’s a sneak peek.
