Friday…calm and sunny makes for a slow bite. Saturday cloudy and windy, and man did we catch fish. Friday was a bite that would come and go, as fast as you thought you had something going, it would fizzle. Friday I had three die hard fisherman with me, one being Bearplotts from indepthangling. We had a fun day as the walleyes made us work for each and everyone of them. We did see a pretty good number of slot fish along with plenty for there limits. Here in Bob "bearplotts" Schultz with one of his slot fish.
We found fish just about anywhere from the Northshore to Mallard point and back to Tamarack point. The most active fish came from 10-11 feet of water. Most of the walleyes liked the Citrus Shad MAXGAP jig tipped with a silver shiner. With the lack of wind and cloudless skies it still seemed that the best jigging action was the snap jigging approach. Here is Dave with another Winnie slot fish.
With the day coming near an end we made one last stop in Cutfoot at Bob’s Bar to find a mess of walleyes hanging on the NOrth end of it. They were slightly more aggressive, but still not sure if they were wanting to eat quit yet. I guess the fish were saving there hunger for today. Here is Tom with one of his better fish. Thanks guys for a very enjoyable day, hope we can hook up this winter for those magnum perch.
Saturday, oh what a day! Today was the ideal day for a jig fisherman. With the winds gusting upto 40 MPH and steadily out of the SE at 20+ MPH, we had to beardown and fish where we could and today the fish were absolutely stacked and feeding along the river channel from Tamarack point down to the Three Sisters. The best depth was 12-15 feet. Winnie continues to amaze me and today we really got are first look at great numbers of slot fish.
