The Tug is the Drug !!

The Tug is the Drug !!!

This is why we ice anglers go all out to find our way atop of the hard water.. The Tug of the long rod !! Fishing shallow water where sometimes you could swear that the prey would have to come in at a 45 deg angle

This trip “Friends With Hovercrafts” will be a trip to remember for a long long time !!
The Tug is why we spend thousands of dollars on gear and equipment to get us to the special place that will give us the best shot at the sweet thump on the end of the long rod loaded up with the special lure that gives us the best confidence of achieving our fix..

We praise the manufactures that produce the electronics that allow us to see the solid red blip that gets our heart beating a bit irregular, our breathing a bit faster and our reflexes a bit sharper..

Its the tackle developer/distributor that dreams up and delivers to our doors that special confidence lure that, day in and day out… time and time again..puts that fish of choice under the hole in the cone angle that creates the red bar on our favorite electronics device that puts the Tug sensation thru the arm and to the brain that tells the reflex to set the hook and pull up thru the hole a fish that will create a smile that lights up the world !!!

I LOVE ICE FISHING !!!!!!

Thanks Duke and Thanks G and Sean for a great day on the ice…

This day we were fishing thru 18″ of ice and only about 10″ of water… Lil Cecils, Purists,Diamond Jigs, Dukes Special Wire Jig..
These fish were just under the ice.. if you were more then 3″ below the ice you would not get bit…

Did you get a little nervious the first time you hit open water?

    The first time.. yes !!

but after that i was asking for more open water !!!

  2. Drove south over the Easter weekend past Lacrosse and downriver, thought of you and the rest of the river boys scrambling while there was still ice to scramble on! Amazing the ice lost from when we traveled down Friday and back up Sunday. Enjoy the fun while it lasts, hope it holds a few more days!

  3. Cool video’s & report Dave.
Those guys gotta be some dedicated ice heads!

What happens if one of those things stalls out over open water? I assume it floats?

    Funny you should ask…

that exact thing happened to Duke this past week.. she took a little nose dive, and then came to rest afloat.. all was good… fired the lift motor back up and off they went…

That had to be a spooker

  5. Yupper. Electric fuel pumps and a low battery. But…..I bought myself a jumper pack for my birthday and stow it in the HC. A little bit of fiddlin’ with it and was running again. However, I planned on another week of ice fishing but noticed a crack in the trailer axle yesterday. Too many miles on these Winter rough roads. I think I’m done for the season. By next ice I’ll have a new axle, a cover, new paint, some new plywood, engine water proofing.
Darn these things are cool but higher maintenance than a super model girl friend.
