Rain, wind rain, hail, cold, and more rain. The state of Iowa has had some terrible storms over the past week.Joining me on the water where Gary and Peg Smith from Mondamin,Iowa. Both of these fine people are retired school teachers.I did recieve a F on a subject that I was quized on by the Smith’s.They asked a few questions about carp and bullhead fishing that left me scratching my head for answers!!I thought that we would have better luck fishing for gills and bass along the dock systems.Peg with a largemouth.
Although the weather was not the best we managed to put a few fish in the boat. Here is Peg with a nice largemouth.
It was so nice to fish with Gary and Peg.Both very fun to have in the boat and great anglers also.Peg also brought along her famous Mrs. Smith cookies that are the best cookies I’ve ever had. Here is Gary with another largemouth.
We did not catch alot of fish but did put largemouth, northern, smallmouth, gills, white bass, walleye, and drum in the boat.I wish the weather could have been better for us-sorry Gary and Peg as I know you were looking forward to this trip.
During the next few weeks the gills and bass are going to be on a very good bite in the docks.Try to get a kid out to enjoy this bite.Cade and I with a few gills.

Thanks for the report Ryan, one of these days I am going to make it down to Okoboji, when I do I will be sure to look you up
As the weather stabilizes Ryan, I bet you’ll be on fire buddy! Looks like Gary and his wife had fun despite the crummy weather.
Ryan:
Thanks for a great trip! Peg and I both enjoyed the time on the water with you and Peg really thought it was neat that you tried so hard to get her some fish, she had a great time! The weather was a mess, no doubt about that, but until we are able to control it, we will have those bad weather days.
We hope to join you again for another trip, maybe Mother Nature will be kinder to us.
We enjoyed the day and we did catch fish! We have to remember that sometimes we have some bad fishing but that we rarely have a bad fishing trip.
Thanks again Ryan, you did an excellent job under some very bad conditions.
Ryan,
Thought you knew where ALL the bullheads were? LOL
Or did it already get passed down to Cole? Sorry couldn’t resist.

Steve,if you ever get down this way look me up.
Wade, yes I expect the bite in the docks to be really good soon.Hey I seen 2 huge muskies in the shallows.
Gary & Peg,thanks so much for the kind words and support.Would love to be able to fish with you again.
Clay,I owe you buddy!!!!

Just for the record, no bullheads were caught during this fishing trip! The subject was brought up several times, but no bullhead was hooked or boated. I did, however, manage to hook into a huge northern! Ryan doesn’t like northern in his boat but he didn’t really have to worry about this one, the leach that I used for bait was larger. Ryan took a picture of it so I thought that I had better say something before the picture appears!
Glad you guys found some fish. Sure wish the weather here in the Hawkeye State would make up its mind!
