Yesterday felt like late October and duck hunting season. The water temp was warmer than the air temp. It actually felt nice to wash your hands in the water and warm them up. I took out a longtime client of ours yesterday afternoon for some rigging and drift fishing. The NE winds were really rolling into our face. Two drift socks and our Minn-Kota bow trolling motor slowed us down enough to work fish we were marking on the Vexilar Edge in 22 feet of water on the gravel but these fish were scatterd along the edge and it was difficult to run east to west with a strong NE wind. Two big fat jumbo perch were all we could muster up. We saw a better bite on slip bobbers right after 9pm on the shallow rocks in 10 feet of water. 8 bobbers down and one 8 inch walleye to show for our efforts. I had hooked 4 of the 8 bites and had all four fish up to the boat and they came unglued. My percentage was about as bad as the T-wolves. Very frustrating. It was surprising to see the bobber bite take off so late with the heavy overcast and wind we had. Once again I need to put out the good word on the Smooth Moves seat mounts. We really tested them hard and they performed very well. Hitting large swells at 35mph, my client said it was a great investment.
