Wow is all I can say about Sunday’s fishing. Monday started slow and ended up being another fun-filled day with nubers of both eaters and slot fish. Sunday showed most angler what Winnie was all about. Reports from just about every part of the lake were good. Again the key on Sunday was finding the baitfish which were stacked in 9-12 feet of water on the NOrth and East shorelines. Here is another nice healthy looking slot fish that we caught on Sunday. Nice fish for Denny Dorholt.
By mid afternoon on SUnday the fish became fairly aggressive in the fact that they liked the jig moving quicker and with much more erratic movement. Again the shiners on those 1/16 oz MAXGAP jigs were the key. We are starting to see more of those Winnie shiners in the baitshop and hopefully by this coming weekend all the baitshops in the area will have gallons of them. Here again is one of the better slot fish that I caught on Monday.
The bite continues to improve, yet with the overnight cooler temps, the early day bite shows it. By mid-day the last two days we have seen the fish start feeding much better as the mornings have started slow. With the water temps hovering around fifty today and tomorrow highs reaching the 70’s, We should see a shallow water jig bite getting better by the minute over the next couple of weeks. Look for just about any shoreline in that 7-10 feet of water over the next week to be holding some good numbers of eyes. There are a ton of eater fish in Winnie this year along with some great numbers of slot fish.
