Green Bay Ice Report Whitefish and Walleye update

The cold temps are really improving the ice conditions on Green Bay. This past weekend we made it out to some deeper water on Green Bay in Search of Whitefish.

We fished a step break 5fow on top to 35fow on the bottom. We set the ice houses up in about 22fow right on the edge. We used slender spoons with a little VMC treble about 12″ above the spoon. This is what we typically use for whitefish set ups. We tipped it with some gulp and it was game on!

This was my first guide trip of the 2013 ice season and it felt good to get a good limit to start off the season. We started about 8 and were done with 20 fish by noon. We caught and release alot of the smaller ones and kept the bigger ones.
We had any where from 8-12″ ice and there were several cracks but the colder temps are firming those up. Hope to be out in the deeper water 40fow later this week and get in on some walleye action!
