Northern sconni crappiie action

Well we made it into some of the backwoods honey holes here in northern most sconni’s Bayfield & Ashland Co’s. We started working shallow points that stretched out into the basins deeper pockets. With some luck we scored working over a weed edge near the drop using Northland Tackles Woodtick Mud Bugs with J & S Custom Plastics Ice Mite’s 4ft of bottom aggressive jigging these fish would answer the dinner bell and start to stack up on the MarCum LX 7 like gifts under the fisherman’s tree. Here is J & S Customs owner Jeremy Sporting his two gem’s he found these back to back as I was still drilling holes for the crappie hunt.

After I was done working the lake over with the StrikeMaster Pro I was able to drop down on the action myself. Dropping down with a Mud Bug and a white Ice Mite in 17ftow. Off the drop I could not even close my bail fast enough I had a series of these guys on for the next half hr. Talk about fun crappie action after the barometric pressure was high all morning and by the afternoon is was dropping it was like a light switch on a hot day time bite.

Along for the trip Howie who was on his first northern most sconni trip to search out some of the big woods hidden gems. With a Showdown in on hand and a fine tuned custom rod in the other many slabs fell for this first timers bag of tricks. Couldn’t ask for a better way to top the afternoon off

We found the mixing odd color combos was the ticket as far as plastics to jig‘s We will be back out on them soon!.

  1. Gold C & J Chekai put 50-some 9″-11″ crappies on the ice yesterday for 6 of us on Northern Sconni water in the Minocqua area… we were exploring some little known water yesterday as well. I released this 14″ beauty. Fishing 22′ of water and doing well from 11:30 til I left at 3. They stayed longer and were just getting another group of fish through as I was heading out.
