It’s been two weeks since I’ve been on the river. Last time out the bite was non-existent. Today was the complete opposite, the bite was on and plenty of good fish to show for it. In four hours we (my better half) and I boated 20 fish. Good numbers of 14 to 17 inch fish, with a two going just over 20 inches. Here’s a picture of Pam with the two 20+ inch fish that she caught. That’s right, she had the big fish honors today. And I’m sure I’m going to hear about it for awhile.
We spent most of our time trolling the faces of wingdams. We did produce some fish on the flats, but the wingies had it hands down. Our best producing crank was a jointed Shad Rap#5 in the Red Craw pattern. The best speeds were between 1.5 and 1.9mph (GPS). There was no second guessing when these fish hit, they just inhaled those cranks.
And for all my efforts today, taking Momma out fishing, putting her on the fish, netting her fish, guess who gets all the hugs and kisses? That’s right, the dog does. It just goes to show you who the Alfa male around here is.
Nice report Tony! Perfect for Mother’s day.
Look at it this way Tony: Having a wife who loves to fish [and if I remember correctly she even has her own fishing boat] is priceless. Does she have an older sister who fishes? Thanks for the report and yes thats a great Mothers Day present when she loves to fish.
Thanks, Bill
I think I would kiss the dog too. Nice looking fish Tony. Glad too see you out again.
Bill, she does have her own boat. But more and more she’s using mine. Yes she does have a sister, but she’s younger and might be a little to much for you to handle .
And for you Jarrad, I just got done shaving and I learned to walk on my hands, so I just might have a chance yet.
