After finally coming back from Lake Erie, where fish of over 30" can be had regualarly, is a guy missing out on his home waters? Can coming back really top the big fish of Lake Erie. Well I think the ol man wanted to say something this week. He didn’t have to travel very far to find is Lake Erie size walleyes.
Lee, father/ ol man, had an awesome time this week on lower pool 4. The best presentation this week was his homemade hair jigs again the Fisherflick. Purple and black have been the best colors for both of us this week. Working sand flats with good current and weeds have been the best areas right now. Sand flats with about 3-6 feet of water has been the best depth. The face Wingdams have also seen some nice fish here on lower pool 4 too.
Another presentation that worked for me this week was throwing cranks to the face of wingdams. #7 Shad Rap RS was the best for me this week. Most fish that we have caught have been in the 20-23" range. Except for the pig walleyes the ol man is holding.
With the walleyes in there post spawn look for these areas to get even better in the next week or so. Key areas to start looking for with be funneling areas and wingdams the are just above or below side cuts to the back waters. Trolling or just throwing cranks while be your best presentation. Keep in mind the warmer the water temps get up start increasing you speed. A lot of us guides last year almost ran near 4mph or even a little faster for these post spawn aggresive walleyes. The bite is only going to get better. I can’t wait.
Jared,
Looks like you did better than me. great pics and report. I just sent you those pics you wanted hope they look as good as the fish you caught. see ya soon.

Not to take away ANYTHING from the pic you posted of your father and that dandy walleye but the most impressive pic up there is the one of your son, Austin. MAN ALIVE, has he ever grown! I think the last time I saw him was at the GTG 2 summers ago when he was about 35 Lb’s or so.
Whatcha’ been feeding him?!
Right on James! I was thinking the same thing!
Three generations of Fluekigers and three nice Eyes!
Kinda poetic…I think we will be looking at these kind of pics for a long time!
Thanks Jarrad, welcome back. good report and pictures. Looks like three generations of guides, working and future. Jack.
Impressive fish guys!
Looks like Austin is going to be a fishing machine!
I am going fishing with my little boy this weekend for his very first time. Even though it may be only a boat ride more than anything, still looking forward to it BIGTIME!
