Cowgirls or Supermodels??

Lately it has been a showdown in my boat of Cowgirls Vs Supermodels and I am not talking beautiful women. The bucktail bite has been picking up quickly with these dropping lake temps. and cold nights we have been having. The Technique has been casting cowgirls during the day and supermodels retrieved extremely slow after first dark.

The past week’s Bite has been consistant in the weeds for me. My mom got married on saturday night so it was a relief to get a break from my captians chair but when business came calling the next night it was game on again! Monday night my new Step-Dad caught his first muskie ever right at moon phase measuring in at 47inches. He was so excited I can’t believe he declined my invitation to the bar all night!

Sunday Night I fished in the metro with a good friend Matt and we moved quite a few fish on no particular pattern but all i can say is they were cruising! We swang big and kept chasing a big fish all day and at sunset we thought it paid off. Instead we landed a hefty 42inch fish but our hot date didn’t show and stood me up. That’s pretty much the story of my life.

The last point that I want to make is to say that with the cool water the big northern pike will be moving back up shallow. I enjoy to fish in shallow water most of the time so it always excites me to chase big gator pike. I had 1 nice fish roll my phantom glide bait yesterday and landed a pair of 36 inch fish in a matter of 5 minutes yesterday. Keep casting and shoot me a message if you are coming up for the fall season!

  4. They have still been shallow for us and had an impressive follow that we couldn’t get converted before the storms rolled in. We’ll see what happens over the next day or two. I had a twin ten on, but never got to get it washed!!!

  5. Nice work AJ. You better be ready for next weekend when we visit our prime early fall metro haunts next weekend! Time to put some slime in the Skeeter!

  6. Quick report from the iron range. We fished muskies last night and landed a 25inch walleye on a booty call spinner bait slow rolled over shallow weeds.

Tonight we spent an hour or so in the 30mph wind and rain but ended up with 6-8 walleyes in the boat and 3 nice keepers. I sure hope that the fish cooperate the rest of the season. keep in touch and good fishing to everybody.
