Just wanted to share this video which outlines a typical day on Mille Lacs this season pulling Jolly Roger Tackle Spinners. In this segment, Jordan Marsh and I were filming a new epsisode of Marsh Outdoors which will air next year.
Here is the link to the video:

Great looking stuff as usual Shawn! I’ll take those results this coming weekend for MTT…looks like several slots mixed in…
I wanna come back up and play !!!
Shawn- just watched your Video and have done real well using your blades and harnesses.Just a quick question, is that a clickable counter you have on the end of your net or am I seeing things? If so, cool idea.
I’m thinking that it is a movie cam.
Hi PeterK,
What you see there is a GoPro Camera that was zip tied to the net to get some different angles. Can’t wait to see the nearly 30 inch beast we caught when the show airs next year.
Thanks for watching

Great video. Do you mind if I ask where (generally) you were finding your fish? On the top edge of flats? Bottom edge? I’ve picked up a dozen or so of your spinners, and I’ve tried pulling them quite a bit late this summer, but I’ve not really found the fish. Again, not looking for anything specific, but a bit of very general advice about how you go about finding the fish would help a fan catch a few more.
Hi Carmike,
Thanks for your question. Fish location this year has really depended on the day. I always have my favorite flats or spots on bigger flats that produce more times than not. I always do a drive by first to see where the fish are at. I’ll usually start on whatever side the wind is blowing into. If I don’t mark fish, I move on. Sometimes when I have people in the boat that are not used to this, they wonder when the heck we are going to start fishing, but it definately pays off. I’ve found myself driving around for up to 2 hours some days this year to find fish, but when I do, it’s usually a pretty strong bite!
On the day the video was shot in late July, most of the fish were on top of the flat just 10-50 yards from the edge.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. I should say that I TRY to have that much patience when trying to find fish…but I usually end up putting a line down after, well, less than two hours.
Hmmm…a fisherman who needs to work on his patience. At least I know I’m not alone!
