I had the opportunity to spend the day on the water with my 8 year old…….. Excuse me I have just been corrected, my soon to be 9 year old (June 14) daughter Emily, as you can see she has turned into quite the little fisher woman, here she is driving the boat.
We ran into James on the water and he gave us a hot tip on where to get into some fast and furious white bass action, so off to the dam we went.
Emily said to tell James thanks for the tip!!!
Here’s Emily with the biggest fish of the day, in fact she kicked my butt she caught all the fish and the old man got skunked!!! Emily’s presentation was a 3-way rig tipped with a minnow, she even baits her own hook, but insists on wearing gloves when handling her fish. I think she had more fun playing with the minnows than fishing.
Besides the white bass she also got into the sheepies, she had a blast. The white bass and sheephead are really on a tear right now so it’s a great time to take a kid fishing. So get out there with the kids you won’t be sorry. The other technique that was working well for one group that we saw was jigging sonar’s, they were doing well on the white bass with an occasional eye in the mix, and one of the eyes was a very nice 25 incher!!! They were staying at Everts so with any luck Steve will post a pic for us.
It was a perfect day to be out on the water and great to see all the familiar faces out and about.
Until next time take care and God bless!
Thanks for the report Steve!!!
Daughters are precious
keep em on the water…..B
Or you can just bring the ”kid in yourself” and have some fun catching white bass. Even the bigger kids like catching them especially with a lighter action rod. Keep her ”hooked on fishing” Steve and you both will have alot of great memories.
Thanks, Bill
I’m cooommming Monday!!! White Bass…Black Bass…Walleye…Sauger…I’m COOL
Thanks Emily and Steve,
do know some fisherman and gals last year did get into some really nice size WhiteBass, will have to check it out soon.
Emily, next time I hope your Dad will be able to catch at least one, IT would be good for him.
hope to see you on the water.
Jack.
PS. Don’t feel bad Steve. My youngest one seems to kick my hind end all the time too. But if its going to be done I prefer it is him.
Thanks, Bill
what are the whitebass biting on
Emily was using fat head minnows, but from what I hear they are biting on most anything.
