Interesting fishing on the Petenwell this past Fri., Sat.. Friday brought a wall mounter Crappie and Walleye from 13-24 inches with plenty in the 15-18 inch range. Roger and Greg were both accomplished fishermen looking to have some fun, learn some different presentations and spend some quality time in the wilderness-like setting Petenwell offers. It was a blast watching Roger smoke the fish in the morning and rick catch up in the afternoon. The cold front was just starting through and the fish were somewhere between spawned out and rock solid????
Saturday brought a deepening of the cold front and about half as good a bite with the best coming late. Again a strange mix of spawned out and firm females. Greg and I spent a lot of the day trading tourney ideas and guessing at patterns. Some payed off and some didn’t. No Crappie today. With the exception of not many over the slot fish caught the tourney this Next Sat. should bring good numbers of fish from 15-20 inches.
Good report Lawrence…I was wondering if you could explain your technique “riggin jiggin”. Maybe a technique I could use to help me catch some of those Marble eyes…
Thanks and tight lines
May be heading to the Pete again this Thursday or Friday, before the waters get crowded with tourney fishermaen. Last week, we had the numbers and a few eaters, fishing the river between Ten mile and the dam. Are you still in the river section, Lawrence, or did you try the lake at all??
