Chasing bluegills on the Fox river.

I went out chasing panfish with my wife Marcia and a great freind Rod who runs Rivers End Bait shop during open water season. The bait shop is located on the Fox river just above Lake Puckaway. Rod is a busy guy in the open water season so we get out ice fishing mostly for the year.

We were fishing some of the canals that were dug out years ago along the fox river. Some of the canals have water depth from 2 feet to 6 feet of water depending on the rain or snow amounts. We were using yellow and green jigs and also the orange and yellow as well were working for the days out. The jigs were tipped with wax worms or red spikes and even plastics got a few fish too.

We also have been putting out tip-ups for the northerns as well. We have been using wind tip-ups and beaver dam tip-ups with red treble hooks and golden shiners for bait. We set the tip-ups just a foot under the ice for best results in the shallow water. Some days when we would set the tip-ups out first for the day we could not get time to sit down do some jigging for the panfish. Great days out fishing with the wife and my freind Rod.
