Lake Puckaway trolling report. 6-27-2011

I was out to do some trolling on my home lake Puckaway and its been a week since we have been here fishing. Talked to freinds and the word was it was a slow bite for walleyes on the lake. I had 3 clients in the lund for the morning trip to do some trolling and give them a lesson on the art of trolling.

The baits of choice were number 5 and 7 shad raps and flicker shads. We also were running two rods with cleos in 2/5th once. The trolling speed was at 2.5 mph and faster speeds varying got the fish to strike at times as well. The colors for the baits were the perch patterns for the cleos and shad raps and the crawdad ones as well.

On our first pass for the day we had 2 short walleyes, one legal 16 incher in the box and 2 short notherns and 1 white bass. So we knew we were of to a fast day of fishing. We ended up with 5 legals , 4 for a meal and released a 22 inch walleye and 5 short walleyes also, had 5 whitebass, a 5 pound catfish, and had about 20 northern form 20 inches up to 28 inches long. We had a great time fishing and some great conversation in the boat as well. I,ll be back out on Puck again in the morning.
