Today,I started out below the dam at Lynxville. I was pitching a 1/4 oz H20 Precision Jig with a purple with a chartruse tailed ring worm.I had several places to try looking for wing dams, steep drop offs and wash out holes and I came up with some walleyes in the 15inch range and a couple of nice pike too. These ringworms catch almost everything,,,If you havent tried them yet you owe it to yourself to pick some up and give them a try.
Well, I was to meet up with my fishing partner at 12:30 in the afternoon so I thought i’d meet him at the Falling Rock. So i went in early and had a cheese burger and a beverage waithing for him to show up…The cheese burgers at the Rock are REAL BEEF…these aren’t some prefabed patties ….great burger Len !!
Well with my fishing partner arrived and we set off for Blackhawk Park and got the handline gear set up.We choose to use the #7 Floating Rapala in Vampire and a #11 Floating Rapala in Clown colors on one set up and a # 7 Floating Rapala in Vampire with a purple paintjob on it and a #5 SSR in Fire Tiger on the other setup. With in 10 minutes of out fist pull Scott had the first fish of the day. He caught a 16 inch walleye on the #11 Clown floating rapala, that fish was hungry !! We were looking on the electronics for a school of fish that we could set up on but really never found it…The fish were scattered all over the bottom from 20 feet to 10 feet deep. The next fish Scott caught was on the Clown Rapala again and it was a 17 inch sauger…
The walleyes and or Sauger were really messing with the crank baits. I mean it seemed like they were bumping it with their noses. We would have a fish on for seconds, from a couple to 30 seconds long and then they were off…I think they might have been bumping it with their noses trying to get the bait to turn so they could get the offering in head first…We had several active fish nosing our crank baits but just couldn’t get them in…This fish here decided to take it by the tail and mad its way to the net…A couple of pix and off this 22 inch plus walleye went back to the depths…
Good report Dave
Thanks for the info!! Looks like a fun day
That guy your fishing with looks a little familar
Good report Dave,

Thanks for taking me fishing. ( It’s always an adventure )

Scott
Nice fish Dave. Thanks for the great report. How does it feel not slipping on ice? The fish are starting to turn on here at the Rock River.
Good report, Dave. Nice fish – too..
You know what they say – A Bad Day of Fishing is way, way Better Than A Good Day At Work…
Tight lines
Thanks for the nice words, It sure is nice to get out in the boat again, and it’s allways good to fish with you Sheds(no real wild adventures this time) With the water temp. raising and the flow increasing(and they will)the fishing for walleyes and sauger will only get better.
The pike are on a terror right now. I never landed any Monsters but i had one bite me off that i never saw and i had one along side the boat that was in the upper 20’s for length and a real chunky fella too…and i had one more that i foul hooked in the back end that i unhooked with my needle nose right along side the boat…
I’ll be out again on Tuesday and Wednesday…See ya out there
Dave–finally picked up my new Lund down in Missouri and have her just about rigged. Beat up the fish in the Truman tailwaters and offered a post. Heading home to genoa probably Tuesday a.m. Wanna hook up on pool 9 ? tedpeck.
I spent Saturday afternoon celebrating the 2nd birthday for my little one. I wouldn’t mention it, but just to show you how unpredictable fishing and the weather can be, his birthday party last year was the weekend of the PDC ice fishing get together, and we had safe ice after that for a solid week or two.
Nice report Dave, Those Ring worms are great baits.
Ted,
Lets hook up. I’m off Tuesday morning and will be ready to fish by noon..
Gianni, ec had pretty good timing for the GTG this year.
Nice report Dave. You’ll make a great fishing guide because you have patience and a good sense of humor The river will help out on the rest.
