The Fishing on MilleLacs right now is about as good as it gets. Over the past week the fish were going on just about every type of structure the lake has to offer. Shallow rocks 7-10fow, deep gravel 18-26fow, and the mud 25-34fow.
The shallow rocks in 7-10fow produced best in low light periods or when it was windy and overcast. I used a 32oz chartreuse or blue jig tipped with a lively leech. The rocks produced the highest percentage of eaters for me over the week.
The 18-26 foot gravel produced best in the morning hours from 7-11am. I did bobber fish the gravel at times, but rigging was by far more productive. When I rig the gravel snags can become a problem, so that’s why I use a no snag style slip sinkers. The less you’re snagged the more time you have to fish! The gravel produced both overs and eaters.
The deep mud seemed to produce better as the week went on. I rigged the side of the mud in 25-34fow. A large leech on a 7′ snell was all you needed to boat some very nice fish. The mud produced mostly large fish in the 20-27” range.
MilleLacs is arguably the best place to fish walleye in the month of June, so look no further for a great day on the water. I don’t know of another lake in the area that will kick out a larger variety of year classes. Whether you’re after a bunch of big walleye for loads of fun and pictures, or a pile of eaters for the fry pan, MilleLacs has you covered.

Nice fish
Joe, agree 100% on that report. Just got back from 4 days on the water and we got fish shallow, deep, sand, rock, mud, early, late didn’t matter! Even mid day crankbait trolling in that 8-10 FOW was producing a nice mix of eyes, perch and smallies! Just a great time to be on the lake right now!

Pretty impressive report Joe!
Nice mix of different size walleyes you put all those clients on. It really shows in all the great pictures as well.
Looks like a tough week on the water
