I asked this same question to one of the Croix Customer Service reps a few years ago. His opinion is tha tthe Avid is by far the best value (bang for your buck) in the Bass lineup. The difference in performance from the Avid to the Elite is not equivilant to the increase in price.
That said, I own both (about 6 of each). There is a difference, and I prefer the Elite for most applications. Is it worth the price difference? Probably not. If you can get the Elite at a discount, by all means step up to an elite. If you are paying retail, stick with teh Avid.
March 21, 2011 at 1:01 pm #920272check with Custom Mold and Tint. They made many of the bass boat windshields. Even if they dont have a pattern, they can and will make a pattern off of your existing windshield sample (after you send it to them). These run about $100 for one windshield, plus freight both ways.
Another really good source for parts….or finding sources of parts is Bass Boat Central. I suggest the Restoration forum or the Skeeter Boat Forum. usually, those guys are pretty knowledgeable
December 17, 2010 at 11:34 pm #918093how many were counted more than once? in 2009, I would have been counted 8 times. Statistics can say whatever you twist them to say.
September 22, 2010 at 2:53 pm #900056It sounds to me like she broke state law. In every tournament I have participated in, that results in a DQ. DQ this person for no other reason than she was dumb for bringing about this drama. ABA has a tough decsision to make. If I know anything about this organization (I do), they will stick by this poor decision of paying her. Doing so, will result in lost entry fees from people like my self that will not tolerate studpity of this magnitude being rewarded.
She broke state law and admitted to it. DUMB! DQ her, strip her of her winnings and give her a ticket. ABA is at fault for posting this on the web and NOT understanding local laws as well.
July 29, 2009 at 3:36 pm #793974I am a fan of the draw system.
If you truely want more participation, there are a couple ways to achieve this. Pay down more places…or have some give aways like hats or lures.
The truth is that the check cashers are most likely the same year in and year out. You need to keep the other guys happy by either paying down further or giving them somthing for free. Without the “donaters”, you don’t have much.
July 20, 2009 at 9:18 pm #791783LAX public library still has some old school fishing hot spots maps available for check out.
I have seen a brand “Where to CAtch’em” as well.
July 2, 2009 at 4:02 pm #788114No first hand knowledge of the 100% Trilene.
I did try Vanish-junk
I did try P-line-Junk
I tried BPS-Junk
I did try Sugoi-good but priceyI finally settled on Seaguar Carbon Pro in 15# for many applications. I found Seaguar to be one of the originators of Flouro and in my eyes, had the longest time to perfect it. I have been using it for 3 years now with limited complaints (less than the others I have tried).
March 9, 2009 at 9:50 pm #756578musky kill and grill–that is funny right there and would be the ONLY way to gain attention on this subject.
Personally, if the lakes have progressed to be more suitaable to LM…so be it. This is the natural progression of lakes!!! they are trying to reverse mother nature which isn’t going to happen.
Politics and the WDNR at it’s best…or worst….
March 9, 2009 at 9:37 pm #756571Will never have another boat without a SI unit. I ran a 797 for 2 years and upgraded boats to one with 997 unit. It is truly unbelievable what you are missing by NOT having one. I have used it on lakes, rivers and resevoirs. Truly amazing.
February 28, 2009 at 12:26 am #753340I ran a 20ft Tunnel (Alumacraft) for 3 years with little complaints. It had a 75 propped tiller onthe back without jackplate. They do tend to slide on corners a little, if not setup properly, they tend to cavitate as well. Overall, it was a nice platform. I bought it for the upper dells which is primarily sand. It did fine….but I later sold it to a carp shooter. My fiberglass bass boat would “run” everywhere I wanted to go after I sold the craft. I would buy another one.
March 12, 2008 at 2:40 pm #664606I am with Fish Hammer on this one. As a landlord myself, please move on to another property.
What renters need to get rid of is the, ” I am doing you a favor by paying you rent” attitude.
Again, not a personal attatck, only an opinion.
August 23, 2007 at 3:20 pm #602747Upper dells is about 12-18″ higher than it was before the rain. I consider it to be normal summer levels now– Plenty fishable. I assume the further downstream you get, the higher it will be. Especailly with the amount of rain sauk/columbia county has been getting
August 15, 2007 at 1:56 pm #600233For a closer drive, check out upper dells. There is a boatlanding on river road on the east side of the river in town. There is also a launch on the west side of the river up a mile or two (River Bay Campground-public launch though). I know for sure you can put your boat in here. it gets busy on the weekends but during the week is quite peaceful. Riverbay is at the wide part of the river(kinda like a lake). Down from river bay is the classic sandstone bluffs that make the dells-The dells. Up from there gets hairy with the sandbars. However, if you brave the sand and find some timber, there are walleyes to be had….and plenty of Smallmouth! You should be able to get about 4 miles north of River Bay if you can read the river. Even with all time low water levels, we have been able to get bassboats up there quite easily.
March 12, 2007 at 8:47 pm #547959CAstle Rock…Wayside Landing is open..might be a few ice chnuks in the way though. River is open all the way to train trestle. Water is low, sandbars are prevelant. Hwy G landing below fish Lake is not open..too much ice on teh planks unless somebody gets a plow down there. 29th st landing is iced in yet. river isn’t open much below the trestle. Info as of Sunday the 11th.
Petenwell…no clue
March 5, 2007 at 1:22 am #544588I Agree, I think there should be a special thread for “product reviews” where folks can give advantages and disadvantages of a product.
March 1, 2007 at 3:23 am #543143Contact Merchant & Gould out of the Twin cities. They are a competent patent law firm we have used for construction industry.
February 23, 2007 at 10:26 pm #540871Agreed, Yank’em jigs are the finest out there, custom colors available to boot. Call Brad @ 608-769-4355 and he will “hook” you up.
January 19, 2007 at 7:24 pm #525271JC, I think it was said “Jeff & Sam and Co.” Company to me means more than the two listed. No need to get worked up!
January 10, 2007 at 5:07 pm #520834Try before you buy.
Are you sure the brand is “Pro-Tested” and the prop just hasn’t been on a “pro’s” boat and tested?
Is it original?, has it been reworked? What boat/motor combination is it coming off of?
Best advice, try before buy….if you can’t try it now, pass on it til you can.

September 21, 2006 at 7:29 pm #481330I have included a pic of the differrence in blue tail colors. Some may say it isn’t much of a difference but when confidence is involved… it sure is. All of the tails in the pic are suppose to be the same. The 3x dip is what we desire. As you can see, the May version was almost purple!
September 21, 2006 at 7:03 pm #481315yup, has the purple fleck. Mizmo’s have their “EDGE” that smells like plastic to me (ISG are garlic). Buy a bag of the Mizmo’s, you will be surprised. They have the same inconsistancies as the ISG, shorther bodies somtimes, fatter or thinner bodies somtimes, different hardnesses somtimes. they are the same. Honestly, I think they get them the from same place. I paid .25 each for 250 Mizmo from an ebay vendor plus zero shipping.
September 21, 2006 at 6:44 pm #481308WE went round and round with ISG about the blue craw color about a month and half ago. They claim to have it under control now. If you aren’t happy with ISG change(as I wasn’t), buy the Mizmo blue craw. They are identical! You can negotiate a good price with any of the ebay vendors for some quantities of Mizmo’s. Again, Mizmos are identical to ISG’s Blue Craw. Rite bite tubes also has a blue craw that is similar but not identical (green pumpkin/blue tails). Schubert’s/Lakeland out of Michigan will also pour whatever you want as long as you order 2000. Hawghead baits will also custom pour for quantities of 1000. For phone numbers I suggest using Google.
August 28, 2006 at 3:20 pm #472884Form another source….
“Powder Paint, Bake, use 2-ton epoxy as clear coat. Works well for under 1/2 oz. and OK for 3/4 and up”.
Not sure if his inserts melt or not? I am guessing not?
August 28, 2006 at 2:55 pm #472877Figure the paypal out, it’s as easy as pie.
Yes, COD does exist. You should be able to require them to pay with money order or business check….something more than a personal check.
August 25, 2006 at 3:22 pm #472380It is my opinion that Tourney anglers get the “negative attention” because of what REel Guy said…”Flashy boats racing to the fishing grounds and taking up the boat landing space”.
In addition, I believe it is the fact that there are organized bass clubs/organizations. By being organized, it is an easier target.. (kinda like a school of bass…easier to target a school than one here and there). With the recent explosion of Televised tournaments, it is making “joe public” more aware that tournies exist, thus making a larger target. Anglers want the positive publicity to educate youth and grow and the sport when there are times (like the kill) it is actually a couple steps back.
AS far as your spin on the 79% release rate….The public has heard Catch and Release by bass guys for 30 years. When CPR is pounded in their head that is what they expect…CPR. When there is a major kill like the Stren/Everstart, that is the media/public’s opportunity to call the anglers/hosts out on CPR. That is their opportunity to say…”why don’t you practice what you preach?” This is why it got the press it did.
The argument has also been made…”look at the money it brings to the local economy”. WEll, The press/public is saying is all that money worth the stress on the resource?Maybe the kill would have been “accepted” if the anglers took another 4 days off work to go around and collect the floaters themselves ((taking responsibility for their actions–Maybe this is another view of the media…ANglers are using the resource for personal monetary gain (associated with the tourney winnings) without any respect/responsibility?))
August 3, 2006 at 5:24 pm #466373I have a pair of Costas…very good. I sent them in for warranty work about a year ago and th eservice is NOT good. I have heard this many times since then. Might want to look at a different brand that is willing to stand behind their product.
