Thanks for the info. Does the Blitzenburger work with Blazer vanes?

You have got most of your bases covered. i would get some denatured alcohol to clean shafts with prior to fletching.
As far as jigs:
I Dont think I would but anything other than Bitzenbergers. Not the cheapest although here in the shop we fletch literally 1000’s of arrows and have never had a problem. In fact I just replaced all of our jigs this summer, the ones we had prior we had been using for almost 7 years. Only reason we replaced them is we rebuilt our entire archery range and felt we were ready to start new. 7 years of glue on them had made them a little ugly. The old ones are still being used today just not for our customer arrows.I would recommend fast set gel for your glue if you have not already made a decision on brand.
This is only my opinion and I dont have a lot of experience with other brands of jigs.
Great way to pass the winter.
Couldn’t have said it better! Probably because I asked u guys about what works best. Bitzenberger jig…only way to go. Been using mine for over 15 years now.

Report from Pine County (Hinckley/Sandstone area).
Very difficult conditions for the opener. As usual, the amount of hunting pressure in this area is very high, so adding in the high winds and the crunch of opening weekend hunters makes for a slow start.
Overall, the number of hunters in this area, IMO, is down significantly. I think the cherry picking hunters who swelled the ranks back when the deer population was at its absolute peak 10 years ago have now decided to stay at home. We checked in at 4 smaller properties (80 ac or less) near us (ones without a shack/cabin) to see if anyone was even hunting them and found all 4 to be empty on opening weekend.
We saw deer and passed on a number of forks and spikes. Two big bucks were taken on the ranch adjacent to our property, but they were some distance away so not the bucks we’ve been seeing on our cams.
The excitement for the weekend for me was having a large bobcat walk literally directly under my stand yesterday in the late PM. Wow. Never have seen one before in the wild, but I will certainly be hoping to see him again come bobcat season!
The pace of shots heard Sat and Sunday indicated a slow start to the season. I think the deer largely stayed in the bedding areas and we haven’t seen any signs of peak rutting activity yet.

“Ya sure it wasn’t just a hose cat????….they look a like!

Ended up seeing 2 mature bucks last night for a total of 7 bucks Saturday. This morning we saw 6 1st rack bucks 3 were chasing like crazy. Like every year for the last 15 I’m wondering where all of last years bucks that we passed are today
Same deal over..the guys at Four Season’s in Red Wing think that huge snow storm this spring did in a bunch. I have 8 cameras and have only one buck over 2 1/2 years old. Granted the 2 1/2 I have here have some great genetics!

I think there’s a danger of reading to much into this and over-reacting. Which risks creating bad feelings, obviously benefitting no one. Since you don’t own the land and I’m assuming you don’t want to risk creating bad feelings in the community, I’d go with a softly-softly approach.
Usually a situation like this is down to the fact that the tresspasser sees “no harm done” in walking down a trail and they think no more of it. A simple change that makes her aware that she shouldn’t be there is all that’s required.
I would put up signs along the trail she is using stating “Private Property”. Don’t affiliate it with hunting and don’t identify yourself or do anything that makes her know she is the target.
My feeling is that if you put up 3-4 signs along the trail, you won’t see her again. Problem solved with minimal risk. Don’t use an elephant gun to swat a fly.

I also agree. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m sure she has no idea she’s being a problem.
October 16, 2013 at 6:59 pm #132837I have 2 Moultrie M880’s and they work GREAT! Both day and night shots look great. Battery life is awesome also.

November 19, 2012 at 12:00 am #127034Mathews are out already, John.
My nephew goes to a archery shop in LaCrosse and shot all 3. Likes the Creed best.
October 30, 2012 at 2:21 am #125758I’ve been out hunting for the last 3 days. Been seeing young bucks searching for does. This morning I had an encounter with an 8 point BEAST at 8:30 the morning. He was scent checking the ridges and got as close as 60 yards before he sensed something wasn’t right. Went back in the thick stuff and disappeared for good. Then this afternoon the farmer whose land I hunt called me to tell me there were two deer in the middle of a picked and disc corn field.
I drove over to the field and sure thing there they were. The doe was sitting on the highest spot in the middle of the field and off to her side was a 2 1/2 year old buck taking a nap. I grabbed my Canon 7D camera and 400mm lens and started clicking. He got up walked over to the doe. Pushed back up and proceeded to breed her right in the middle of the field. I kept clicking then realized I forgot my compact flash card! Hope this helped!
October 26, 2012 at 8:02 pm #125558That was Doug Zimmer, Gregg! Doug is a photographer from the Rice Lake area. Had been shooting for over 30 years. I’m still shooting but just many for my Dad’s photo collection.
October 22, 2012 at 9:59 pm #125348Great read, Gregg! Been awhile!
This passion for hunting??? Better than dirt track racing???
I usually paper tune my arrows in the garage..not in the blind! Sorry man!
I know u will be putting the hammer down on a beast…it’s your passion! If not….it’s never a waste of our time…spending time in the woods! It;s what we love to do!October 9, 2012 at 10:35 pm #124648Quote:
I’ve taken a handful of deer and one bear using Rage (2 and 3 blade) – the damage they impart is impressive. Having said that, I too have grown weary of having to obsess over whether or not the blades are seated properly in the o-ring. I’ve switched to Slick Tricks. Similar looking to the good ol’ Muzzy (which has also served me well in years past) but they seem to fly a bit more like a field point from my Hoyt.
…as do my Switchback! Same as my field points and sharp as heck!
September 13, 2012 at 8:51 pm #123085#9 photo has EVERYTHING! A huge buck with the moon at full glow! Just gets the blood pumping! You have some studs, Steve! That video u posted is sweet also!
