Speaking of tips, has anyone used the double or triple fisherman’s knot to tie flouro to braid?

I’d start searching the north end the lake wherever there was a dark bottom. Do not be afraid to look real shallow if there is any cover. If you are talking high water in a river then look for good current breaks close to shore.

I have had some success with my own modification of a surgeon’s knot but I have found that braid can cut through flouro and so i am going to use a tiny swivel this year.

I go along with most everyone else here. I use PP for everything except frogs where I may use Spiderwire. SW is also good for swimjigs and the only reason I do not use PP for that is I do not use a flouro leader on swimjigs. All my PP is yellow which is is easiest for these old eyes to watch.

I too am a fan of Power Pro 30lb.I do prefer Spiderwire for Scum Frogs though because it seems to rip through the pads better. If I had choose only one, it would easily be Power Pro.

I have been doing this for years but it never dawned on me to remove the soft plastic bait first, thanks for sharing.

Nice fish HJakob. I have fished the upper Mississippi in the fall and can relate to your “hog”.

The neighbors who snow-blow their driveways into the street after the plow has gone by really urine me off.

Personally, I would snip off about a third of the weed guards.

I agree with most all the other posters. The o rings are simple to put on with the proper tool.

I think the posts already up are great. Let me tell you how I learned to fish plastics. Go fishing with some one who is a good plastic fisherman but before you go make certain that your rod is the best sensitivity you can afford. If you are catching fish on hard baits pay attention to the depth and speed that is working, then try to duplicate both of those factors with plastics and keep at it.One thing I think is the biggest “light at the end of the tunnel” is the fact that as you start to see some success the learning curve quickly goes up.Good luck!

i have found just using a small snap with no swivel is the best way to go. if you use a black one it is not noticable in the water and the action of the lure is not inhibited, also changing baits is a snap too.

I’ll give that a try Kevin, by the way, are you one of the “undefeated”?

Also, along the same lines, has anyone tried a small swivel between the main line and the leader? Nearly all of my breakoffs occur when the braid cuts through the flouro.

I have less “overspin” on my baitcasters with braid. The other reason for braid is that I have to use a small boat and so I use the same rod for swim jigs and rattle traps.I tried straight flouro on a spinning reel a few years ago and I had alot of problems with it.I do have some spinners with Yozuri premium hybrid which is o.k.
