I mounted a set of Kolpin grips on my Digger mount when i bought my kdrill. Fits nice and snug, no issues after 3 years.

Another vote for a Hub, and add a jet sled. Unless it’s brutal outside just don’t set your shanty up until you’re on fish, or know they’ll show up at some point. Itll pull easier too.
February 13, 2019 at 8:41 pm #1835275Joey, conditions are horrible right now for anything that isn’t tracked. This last storm we got dumped rain, ice, sleet and then 8-12” of snow on the bay. Add two days of 30-40 mph winds and it’s a bit messy. Lots of slush out there. I’m pretty certain they launched somewhere on the east side of the bay. As far as cracks and shoves, the west side (Linwood) is notorious for that. The East side has its share of cracks as well.If your only option is a SXS, my advice would be launch on the east side. Stay on the beaten trail…ramps and a winch are a must. We are supposed to get a little rain tmrw night and then pretty cold going into the weekend. Let’s hope it firms up a bit.
February 10, 2019 at 8:56 pm #1834267Linwood Beach Marina is the most popular Launch on the West side of the Bay. It’s also a zoo on weekends. Bay city Staye Park is another option. Plenty of hotels in Bay City. Be sure you can secure and lock all of your gear. If you’re bringing quads, make sure you have Planks/ramps. Sorry, just saw this was a week old. Fishing was hot this weekend, hope you ran into a few fish.
February 16, 2018 at 9:16 pm #1753028Love the ingenuity, looks nice and clean. I was bummed when i realized my kdrill wouldn’t fit into my digger rack. Ended up buying the kolpin pro grips and some longer bolts…ended up mounting right to the square tube of the digger.
February 13, 2018 at 6:55 pm #1752137Happened to park next the the IDO rig tonight. Super excited to see The show filmed on my home lake. I won’t ruin it for anyone, but it’s gonna be sweeeeet!!!
January 22, 2018 at 4:54 pm #1746512This is an everyday thing on Saginaw Bay. Sooo many new people to the sport, things get taken too lightly. You fish big water and things are bound to happen. Flip the odds in your favor and take every step to be safe. Spud them, mark your crossings on a gps…then spud them again on your way in.
December 27, 2017 at 6:46 am #1738651I’m right there with ya buddy! Luckily I have Saginaw Bay to hold me over until and if it happens! If it doesn’t, there’s always a chance of a late January warm up, and trolling trip!

December 23, 2017 at 9:21 pm #1737973I picked up a led light strip with a usb end on it from Best Buy. 4’ strip and i plug it into a power pack…i believe it puts out 5 or 6 volts. 15$ and it’s super bright!
December 23, 2017 at 9:12 am #1737821I’ve had a Shappell Rover 1.0 for about 12 years now. I bought it because it was the lightest one man i could find. It’s treated me very well and has held up nicely. I even pulled it behind the snowmobile for a few years before i bought an otter, and it held up to the abuse. Whatever you decide to buy, definitely put the hyfax on it.
December 21, 2017 at 7:01 pm #1737391On large bodies of water, Lake Erie or Saginaw Bay, mid day bites are common. Those lakes are full of fish though…you can always find feeding fish, just takes some running and gunning. On clearer inland lakes, it’s much tougher. On sunny, high pressure days I’ll try deeper during the day, usually with tip ups. There are some lakes i fish in northern Michigan I’ll either perch fish in the afternoon or ride the sled to the tavern for a burger and brew.
December 21, 2017 at 5:38 pm #1737377I love my 11lb tank..cheaper(after the initial cost) and it last me 2-3 weekends in my otter thermal. I put mine in a 7 gallon bucket with a lid and run the hose out of the top. Keeps it from rubbing on the tent while in transit and keeps it protected. I still use 1 pounders when I’m pulling my one man by hand
