    See page 4.
“Frozen or preserved bait fish may be imported into Manitoba and used in
all fishing divisions. However, anglers importing frozen or preserved bait
fish into Canada may require permit(s). For more information, contact the
    Canadian Food Inspection Agency”

However, Last year i wasn’t allowed to bring Manitoba salties back into Manitoba. Had to loop back to ND and dispose of them.

I would be leary about going out to far with anything heavy for a bit. For note we were up by the south end of Fletcher on Saturday and found what must of been one of break open spots. There was only 5.5″ of ice.

Lakeroad lodge has the best setup for DIY trips, park right in front of your room, big fish cleaning room where you can leave augers overnight to thaw, Community dining building with fish fryers and hot plates, cookware, utensils to cook your own meals. Close enough to all the major resorts if you wanna grab take out.

I have the last year of the Otter XT900 and wore out my hyfax in Jan of last year (2019). I attribute it to multiple yearly trips to lake Winnipeg and across lake of the woods.

Check the acid levels in the batteries and the output on the charger wires.

Have bought spools of the 4 & 6 lb regular advanced mono. It hasn’t coiled too bad off the spool, but it has had terrible twisting memory after fish catches. I have had to cut off the end sections at times. Not a fan.

A Trollmaster is worth it’s weight in gold.

Just don’t get the new wireless one, my buddy has one and it sucks.
    [/quote]

My first wireless trollmaster made really big jumps in speed. I ended up sending it back in because it would also go to sleep and not wake up. Replacement works like it should.

I use the panther removable tie bar and the kicker with the trollmaster, drop the bowmount for four wheel drive trolling when necessary.

Polaris is notorious for fuel pump relays failing in the cold.

What do you want to know? I have a 42″ and it is a stout rod for southern lake trout on LOTW. It was my first lake trout rod. I have also built two others with slightly softer actions.

Welded cap is a bugger. I did my old lund pro angler two years ago. It wasn’t that bad because everything was screwed or bolted. I was able to get the old board out in one piece to use as a template. Took me less than three hours to pull the motor and remove the board, but I had access to a chain hoist. It took about 8 hours to reinstall everything. I was able to fold the old transom board in half by hand when project was complete.

The bounce n troll is my primary bouncer rod and doubles as a inside trolling rod with a #17 sealine.

The key to catching lakers up there isn’t what you’re using, it’s simply being on active fish. If you’re not on fish, go find some.

I would have to disagree with you on this. If you aren’t using the right lure they won’t even show or won’t bite. 1/4 oz swimbait jigs with stout hooks and white split tails, flutter spoons, dense spoons, blade baits are in the rotation. It can change during the morning/afternoon or day. Golds, silvers, whites with and without glow. Pink has been a good color this year. Early Feb my best bait was a dense gold back spoon with chart and orange on the face, follow by a jig/plastic, then a pink or lime green ken katch spoons. I have fish swoop in on 3 or 4 different baits before they ate. Snow is DEEP up there this year and lot of slush.

I used the genesis live update last fall on my HDS 12. The depth charting is awesome.

Ground up and stuffed and twisted some veny brats over the weekend. Cold smoked with apple wood.

145 lbs of smoked brats later and this is the best smelling cooler in the county.
Cold smoked for 50 minutes and then let cure in cooler for 24 hours.

Did you add cure and what was the internal temp at the end of the 50 minutes?

I like to cut mine about the width of a strip of bacon on the bias, wrap with a strip and then I package a pair of them. That way I get to enjoy them over the course of the year as I force myself to ration them. Grilled rare with a good crispy baked potato! Never felt the need for any extra aging.

Rainshadow Eglass GCB70M, fuji reel seat, st. croix handle and foregrip, large single foot Stainless guides, but a large ceramic single foot guide for the tip. If you really like the blank build the second one with recoil guides. I cut mine down to 42″ from the tip section and love it. It will handle large walleye well also. In my opinion the .385 mentioned above is a broom stick and pretty heavy. If you want to try it I will sell you one for half price plus shipping. I bought one and did not like how heavy it is. Second picture is the E glass blank.

Probably some of the best advice. It’s wilderness style fishing. If it can break it will, and weather can get nasty. Clackin raps are also great lures. But they are discontinued.

Lastly if you have room bring two of most things – heaters, augers, flashers……shoot we’ve even brought an extra snowmobile. This lake is tough on equipment. Be prepared for weather changes. You do not want to get stuck out on this lake in blizzard conditions (GPS and backup heat source a must!!). Been there done that. In -30F degree temps we’ve had both propane tanks and snowmobiles start on fire. Best thing is to be prepared.

Anytime in Feb or Mar with decent weather is a great time to go. One of those good fish will make the trip!

Batson Eglass 7ft Med Mod cut down to 42″ from tip section, casting reel seat, Abu 5500 bait cast, 12# fluoro. You can fish med size walleye to lakers. Also have a Tuned Up LTP 42″ casting style.

A good buddies friend was going to buy one until he test drove it. They have a manual transmission and the clutch is under the drivers seat. That was one of the deal breakers with a price tag of $110K.

As of April 1, 2002, OPDs are required on all propane cylinders between 4 and 40 pounds propane capacity, per the 1998 edition of NFPA 58, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code. Cylinders of this size manufactured after September 30, 1998, were required to have an OPD. A typical gas grill cylinder holds about 20 pounds of propane.

    100# tanks are exempt.
