I will be going the left handed route on a rifle for him. We will see about right or left handed for a bow. Thanks for all the replies!

I definitely want to set him up for success and not failure. Looks like I will be looking for a left handed 243 in the future. I will be having him practice left handed from here on out. Thanks for the replies, IDO never disappoints.

Any thoughts on bows? I would lean toward right handed, and have hime close his left eye.

If there is not a sponsor on here that can help, I have dealt with Northland Marine. They are out of Three Lakes here in Wisconsin, and specialize in Minn Kota parts. I have called them and got great service diagnosing a problem with my trolling motor. Good Luck!

We fish a lot every year at Winni with a drift sock off the side draggin jigs. As for the marker bouy, I find it to be a flag to bring every boat on the lake right in on top of you. I use the waypoints on the GPS.

Found my problem. Drilled the shaft to mount a screw for the transducer cord and nicked the red wire. Should the bottom assembly thread off the shaft to replace the wire. It has threads that would suggest so.

If I am not mistaken, you have an Alumacraft? I bought a 2014 Competitor last year, and found out the hard way that the radio has a constant draw. I had a dead battery when I got it home from the dealer the first day(They neglected to tell me about the radio). When I took it in for service at a different dealer, they told me about the radio issue. They said it will go dead if not used every 4-5 days. They suggested what Grouse said, to put a switch on it. I put a battery tender on, and plug it in when not in use. FYI, my battery was shot and Interstate replaced it for free.

I am buying a alumacraft 165 competitor sport with a 90 Yamaha. The dealer said I can try their stainless props until I find the right one. On my old boat with a 75 2 stroke I used a 19p aluminum and struggled to get on plane. I switched to a 18p stainless and it jumped on plane, and improved top end by 2-3 mph. This was all when loaded with 3 guys and gear. I would go with a lower prop so you don’t over rev. and can get up with a load.

He was wondering which battery the fish finders where hooked to. They draw current, and if hooked to your starting battery you will want it hooked to the charger. Simple answer to your question is yes, hook it up to all three batteries. It will keep them all topped off.

You owe it to yourself to check out the Smith and Wesson M&P. My department went to these in 40cal from the Glock(Gen 3). They are a sweet shooter, and all 6 officers shot better with it as compared to the Glock. It came with 3 different grip sizes, adjustable rear sights and a smoother action. The sear is very pronounced, and the grip is more upright which is more comfortable. It is also much easier to break down than the Glocks we had. The mags are metal instead of plastic as well. After shooting the M&P it was a no brainer. Hope this helps!

Make sure the tracking is enabled on her phone. Especially the E911 so the police can find her if something does happen!

    Kooty,

The CO we talked to said he would pull up with the Garmin and that chip and if it said we were trespassing, we would get cited period! Cabelas has the Garmin 62s on sale for $199.00 right now. That is a sweet deal!

Search diywyomingmaps.com There is a ton of information including % of public land and success rates. We just applied and used this for alot in choosing a unit. I would also suggest getting a gps map chip from huntinggpsmaps.com It is $1500 if you get caught trespassing.

Thanks for the help guys! I think Navionics is the way for me. I only need Winni in MN and they have more of the lakes I want in WI. Can’t wait to put this sucker to use!

I notice the Lakemaster chips say “hummingbird” on them. Does the Navionics distinguish between Lowrance and Humminbird. Just want to make sure it will work in my new Bird.

I use the King Kutter. You will need to add weight, we add at least 200lbs of steel plates in a box mounted to the top. On virgin ground you will want to work it when it is moist. It also cuts much better when turning. It will give your atv a workout. I have a 500 Honda Foreman and it will get hot on warmer days. It works fine on ground that has already been broken. Hope this helps!

I agree about the carry in a populated area. It tends to freak people out. As a LEO I will speak with the person to try and get a feel for what they are up to, but can’t go farther than that in most instances. It is usually the ones that just want to “stir the pot” that are doing this, but is their legal right.

    Steve-

Open carry is legal in Wisconsin. There are areas where you can not open carry such as court houses and schools, but generally it is legal.

Not sure about those you mentioned, but Fleet Farm is a HUGE gun rights supporter. You can CC there all you want! You know what they say “If Fleet don’t have it, you don’t need it”.

Good read. We have already seen a great reduction in deer and hunters here. Still, the DNR continues to offer doe tags by the thousands. I did not see one deer during rifle season, but did not spend a ton of time in the woods. I hope the hunter reduction will give deer a chance to rebound. I can say that I will be giving a pass on the does for the next several years. Wish more would to the same!

We start league next week, and it is a good time. 50 yard indoor which is a challenge, and makes those 30 yard shots seem pretty easy once hunting starts! Enjoy!

The arrow flight is my main question with these. I saw them used on a 3-d target and they leave quite a hole. I just wonder how they will fly at longer distances. Thanks!

Bows have come a loooong ways. Go shoot a new one and you will see what I mean. That being said, you can find good used (couple years old) on archerytalk.com for more reasonable prices then the $1000.00 they want for some new ones. I bought one there a couple years ago and have been very happy. I am going to upgrade shortly again myself.
