Wolf spider in my pool with babies on her back. F this. I have to gently net her and remove her or she’s going to shed all of them and I have to hope they hit the skimmer before the next time I swim. You need to move.
LOL
I’ve never been bit by a spider and after reading all this I really hope I’m never bitten! Yikes. I like spiders and enjoy observing them, but I should probably try harder to refrain from picking them up and playing with them.
Are you kiddin me??!!!! LOL ooohhhhh heck no, not here.
There was a report on the news a few years back about a brown recluse biting a 4 year old in Garrison, MN. Unlike Silver Carp, they are here.
“sleep well” and with your mouth closed.
Was talking with a friend of mine last night and he thought it was a recluse that had bit me according to the pic I posted in this thread. Each bite takes a different toll from what I hear. Also told me that wolf spiders couldn’t bite like this. Who knows, all I know is that this bite put me down and out with spiking fevers that were 102.

OMG…that’s so gross. Hope you got all of them out!
LOL, you guys are hilarious. Antibiotics are kicking in, thank god. Be careful guys, that’s all I’m saying about this and after my experience.

here’s a pic of it in the very beginning (that’s when I was laying in the cabin with a fever) before it turned all dark purple.
Very interesting, the area was a little bigger than my fist on the back of my knee and the doc told me that there was a “secondary infection” going on and was starting to wrap around to the sides of my knee. She also confirmed that while it’s a rarity for a recluse, it has happened here in Wisconsin. Hoping it was just a wolf.
In all honesty, before I got back into fishing, I could’ve cared less about the more expensive rods. I just went in the store, picked out a less expensive one and said, yea this feels pretty good to me, this one will do. However, the more I’m getting back into it, I’m kicking myself for not investing in upper end rods years ago. I can definitely feel the difference now that I’ve fished with $200+ rods compared to the $50 rods I’ve always fished with. To me, it makes all the difference in the world. The craftsmanship and action on all of them are incredible. I’ve taken a lot of trips to Ontario with my dad and brother through the years and it kills me to think of how many fish I’ve missed fishing with the lower end rods. Live and learn I guess.
I used to call myself an experienced avid fisherman but with all the new rods and info out there to learn and choose from, I’m demoting myself to a beginner and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
Investing in top end equipment makes all the difference in the world.
Thanks all! Yea, I just thought it was strange how it was $95 off but I guess you come across great deals here and there and get lucky every once in awhile.
Interesting topic…just moved in with my fiancé and downed $2700 on brand new carpet in the basement about 2 months ago. Little did we know the egress window leaked. We were up north over the 4th and came home to the extra bedroom completely soaked. Ripped up all the carpet and have had multiple industrial blowers and fans going since we got back from the 4th of July.
Make damn sure there’s no water leaks…we learned the hard way.
Good luck.

1:1, as I feel any other gear ratio is cheating. That’s like using man-made materials for your rod or line, I don’t know how you people call yourself sportsmen/sportswomen while you deploy those contraptions!
what??????

I haven’t rode myself ever. Just never tried it. Main thought was he’d really get use out of it at home. Safety wise figure like anything there’s a risk. He’s a smaller guy playing football so it probably won’t be any more dangerous than that. With sports becoming a non stop year round thing would like to have something else for him to put attention to versus burning out on sports in elementary school.Yes I agree. Mason plays football baseball and is in wrestling. Plus soccer. The dirt bike is a really nice get away. I grew up riding and I still do as often as possible. I have a yz 250 I ride around on when he rides. If it’s in the check book I suggest looking for a bike for your self as well to putt around with him. And for a guy who hasn’t ever ridden the yamaha ttr line up is a great bike for dad. It’s great bonding time. There is 4 dirt bike tracks close by to north branch if he ever wants to come try out a bike. Buddies kids have all sorts of bikes from pw 50s to 80s to the new klx 110s.
This is the motocross family for you, slipbob…always being courteous to help out another one who’s getting started.
I rode 125’s when I was young (18-19) and noticed that pretty much anyone and everyone at the track was willing to help out if there was trouble or questions. Owned a CRF 450R last year and have to say I truly miss it. There’s something about a natural adrenaline rush that you just can’t explain.
Another vote for the PW50. I think it’s great you’re willing to introduce him to something he could potentially love. Not too many parents are willing to give it a shot now days.
Bearcat gave some great advice.

As long as you buy a MH rod with a fast tip you are fine using it as a cranking rod. I would go 7 ft or longer. I use a 7’4″ because the longer the rod the longer your casts will be and with cranks you want to cover as much water as possible.Personally I’m in the camp of using my money to buy a higher quality reel instead of a high quality rod because the reel is much more important unless you are going ultra finesse and need a ton of sensitivity which in this case, you don’t.
Thank you! Any suggestions on reels? I’m pretty new to the bait casters.
I have used many brands but have settled on Daiwa. They are the smoothest in my opinion and depending on the amount of $$ you want to spend the T wing system in the Tatula reels is the biggest technological improvement in years when it comes to baitcasters. I use the Fuego which is around $100 in stores but you can find them online for around $80. And the Tatula CT which is around $130.
With crankbaits you want a reel that doesn’t eat up line. Stay away from the 7.3.1 or 8.1.1 geared reels and go for a 6.3.1 or 5.5.1 gear ratio. If you get a reel that pulls the crankbait too fast it won’t run correctly in the water. So stay in the middle geared reels.
Hope that makes sense.
Definitely makes sense. I like the daiwas too. Found a couple Fuegos for $48.88 at farm and fleet. Was wondering if that was a good reel for the money and I think you’ve answered my question! Lol

Grab a 13 omen 7 ft mod actionI was checking them out yesterday online and I’m very impressed especially the price. A good quality rod that won’t break the bank.
I have 2 of them and use for both <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass and pike. They perform very well for the price
I just pulled the trigger on the 7′ Omen cranking rod. Can’t wait bro!

Sixgill makes a really nice rod, fenwick with give you a good cheap rod.
What are you throwing cranks for?
Basically bass and pike. But I could be totally wrong with using a crank rod for pike…
