We were on Winnie last Monday and Tuesday. We put in near the dam, Plug Hat landing I believe. The water was certainly down from normal but we had no problems landing the boat.

Steve – Thanks for noticing. The fish is a 54lb. female king salman caught July 2004 on the Kenai River in Alaska. I will try with the attachment but I have never done this before.

Putz – I hate to take all of the credit for Cheryl’s new boat but let me try. I seem to remember a recent fishing trip to Winnie with you and Snow Snake where you hooked my similar black & grey Lund behind your Ford and kind of liked the looks and then I let you drive my boat for a day and you really got the fever. Have you run into any docks with your new one yet?

    Hello Terry,

I thought your comment about slip bobbers was interesting. My brother-in-laws and I have been fishing the east end of Vermillion once each year for a few days on each of the last 3 years. We have had mixed success but basically, up until last year did not catch many walleyes with much size. Being Mille Lacs fishermen, we decided to give slip bobbers with a leech a try on a couple of rock piles last year and we caught some dandy fish. We will be up again in 2 weeks to give it another try. I also noted your comment on pulling plugs in the main lake basin. I have had good success on Leech over the years pulling plugs, usually out in the main lake on the east end. I usually try to stay in 10 to 20 feet of water, depending on time of day and weather factors. What kind of depths do you do typically troll on Vermillion?

Break for Bobber! Break for Jim! Break for anyone! Wait a minute. Thats right. I figured out that my radio will send on channel 82 but not recieve. The most economical answer to my radio delema would be for everyone fishing Mille Lacs to use channel 28. My radio works on 28.
