White or silver plugs with rattles. Boards worked better once the boat traffic picked up. 27 boats in the gap last night, going to be combat fishing this weekend. Dipseys out 10 feet when the traffic is less. Big fish this year, heard there was a 36lber caught off Manty.
September 7, 2013 at 2:47 pm #1193551Pier fishing has been up and down. The wind kept the river water from pushing out and a bunch of sheepheed moved in. The fish are in there thick, there is a short sunrise bite and then hit and miss. There is a second wave of kings staging in 30 feet of water, a little rain would really get them going. I was 4 for 9, with all fish over 22lbs on the last trip.
August 3, 2013 at 5:35 pm #1187362Thanks for fishing with us Dave. Here’s a picture of the other night. A light rain and some left over waves to start but the rainbows under the rainbow turned out alright.
July 8, 2013 at 2:33 pm #1182132All mono on the surface with small boards. No lead lines or copper it gets in the way to much with multiple fish on and to much to reel in with the leads to run that stuff.
April 24, 2013 at 7:17 pm #1165607Mike,
What kind of walleye bite are you looking for? Green Bay is crowded with a 1 fish limit over 28″. Catch lots of fish but all get thrown back. Poygan would be the place to troll at that time, and if your into the river jigging, Fremont on the Wolf river would be a good place to start, keep 5 of any size. The east side of the Bay of Green Bay if you are looking for the monster fish. Good Luck.April 24, 2013 at 12:47 am #1165361They do catch some browns off the pier, but the warm water spots are always moving around quickly this time of year, and the fish move around quickly that a boat is the way to stay on the temp breaks.
We are in WI so the MN opener does not apply, we are on Lake Michigan and there are no walleyes in the area. By that time we should be seeing rainbows, browns, and kings.October 31, 2012 at 2:55 pm #1108626Here are some pictures of the big waves, they were big rollers that were breaking out deeper so they didn’t look as high as the reports on the weather station but they were Big.
September 17, 2012 at 10:27 pm #1099358Yes, they are right off the pier heads and just entering the river. You can watch all he action on the web cam at:
http://harborcam.two-rivers.org/view/viewer_index.shtml?id=872September 4, 2012 at 1:59 am #1096447He caught the fish on a champ, the flasher and fly was in the fishes mouth, a bobber and hook was attached to the flasher and the net fell apart while trying to net the fish. This was one of those unbelievable stories, but I took pictures of it.
August 8, 2012 at 6:52 pm #1090739A west wind pushes out the warm surface water and the cold water pulls into shallow water. The fish like the colder water and right now the bait fish are moving in closer, so any west wind will bring the fish in close to feed, then the fishing gets really good.
July 9, 2012 at 7:22 pm #1082310This was one of our 3 1/2 hour evening trips.
I do not use lead core or copper or wire line, Up top is a spoon with no weight run out on a board.
Insite to fishing is get here now the fishing is great.January 20, 2012 at 1:45 am #1030251Spoons on the downriggers stood out in 2011, along with the little red flasher and cut green or blue fly of the diseys for coho. The Two Rivers area had it’s best coho action in over 20 years. The new ProKing colors did well all year. The mirrored blue and pink color, forgot the number, and the Moonshine spoons with glow on both sides. The 11″ green flasher with a green fly on the deepest rigger had steady action, but last year we had our best luck running 90%spoons.
August 23, 2011 at 6:23 pm #990318Just had this conversation with a number of captains in the Two Rivers area. Getting to be that time where we are thinking about when to pull the boat out of the water. If you asked me in June I was all excited with the large kings and with the wet start to the season I would say we are in for a big run with some huge salmon. If we go by what we see today there are not many if any kings staging up in deeper water yet and it’s been dry for some time. The lake is not turning over quickly so there is still some hope for a big run, but if we don’t see somthing in the next week start to stage we maybe in for another disappointing fall run. The small kings are making there first appearance for the year which is usually in Mid July so maybe we are just off schedual by 3 weeks.
June 17, 2010 at 2:58 am #880678Speeds not the problem. Probably increase the leader line weight. A salmon hits a lure at 3 times its body weight of thrust. Thats what the lure people tell me, so a 15lb fish will hit a lure at 45lb’s of thrust. Having a lighter line maybe more stealthy to get more hits, but the heavier lead line will keep them hooked up and not break off.
June 17, 2010 at 12:31 am #880656A note on the dipsey set up. If the flasher is breaking off between the dipsey, use 40lb flourocarbon for the violent hits. If you have heavy line line on already, you maybe moving to fast. When the flasher spins out it will tear off. If all the line is good, maybe the fish were just that big. The fish have been running on the larger size for this time of year. Good Luck.
October 12, 2009 at 2:41 pm #808642Yes, that is a picture of the Shoto Dam, very crowded this year. Mishicot dam is just as crowded.
September 7, 2009 at 6:45 pm #802906The fish would normally stage up out deeper and then move into the piers before running up the river. We will have a dredge working in the river for the rest of the season, so with all that activity we don’t know how that will affect the fish and the access to fish the area. The run has not shown any signs of starting yet, so it’s a waiting game right now.
September 2, 2009 at 1:11 am #802139Mike- Without rain and being the fishing patterns are at least 4-5 weeks behind, I would estimate the run at the last week of Sept- first week of Oct. If we get rain there will be a big run as soon as the river water pumps out into the lake.
Jarrad- I’ll be out all day Fri. Ask Scott at the marina how we did in the morning or call be on the radio, hopefully we can narrow down the search for some fish.
August 4, 2009 at 4:12 am #795195Check out the Happy Snapper in Pompano

We fished with them this spring and they did a great job.
May 4, 2009 at 4:18 am #773537A legal walleye on the Bay right now must be over 15″. The creel survey guy at the dock said the average keeper sizes coming in right now are 22-24 inches. The big boys are the over 30 inchers.
April 25, 2009 at 6:20 pm #771078I stayed in the boat for this trip. Very good incentive fishing in waters where the fish can bite you back. I did do some snorkeling off the beach and got surprised by a small school of dorado that flew by me when I was under water.
April 21, 2009 at 2:52 am #770099We were using bonita tuna and king mackeral cut in half for bait. This was Bills first ocean fishing trip so we are having this one mounted to hang in his shop.
February 12, 2009 at 6:17 pm #47616I’ll be moving into SW Iowa the last week of Feb. for the season. Looks like this year will be free of mud and flooding so far. It’s getting close, but I think winter will make some noise, before the fun begins. Anyone else in that area?
August 3, 2007 at 10:14 pm #596246Bottom is the target area, those are the big kings. We found a school of lakers today, but we’ll move deeper in the morning to get back on those big kings.
