Nice day on the river Saturday. Three nice fish in a 2 hour span in the morning. One really nice Sauger (18″) in the evening. Current super swift still so no sitting on wing dams. I did a mix of trolling up and then drifting down a channel 8-10FT.

With the water dropping should be a nice week.

    Hi,
Just wondering what the consensus is for “upper end” and “lower end”? Is upper above 494 and lower below that? How far down does lower include?

I’m way down by the Hastings dam and find this water very different and challenging than what you have upstream where the is essentially a single channel.

The bait shop by the 494 landing near Concord is closed down. Blue ribbon is great but out of my way by a good amount. They should relocate closer to water.

Maybe I’ll get out Monday if my Sunday night work shift isn’t bad.

Keep us posted on weekend success.

Last weekend was super busy for sure. Still failing most trips though… I target the area around my house in Newport. South of 494, north of grey cloud. Maybe that’s my problem. I’ve upgraded my boat, so now I can cover much more water in the short free time I can get.
Also, anyone know where to find minnows south of 494?

Thanks! It worked! Well it was the only one of the morning, but better than none.
I think I need to spread out and hit more water, my pontoon only hits 15 mph and there is only so much water I can cover.

    Hi,
I am on pool 2 a fair bit, failing repeatedly to figure it out. First time post, caving and asking for help. So when you troll, how deep are you running, and do you drive around the wingdams or are you staying near the channel. I’ve trolled on the non-dam side of the river with one tiny walleye, but I don’t get how to get around dams without going across the grain and back.
Or do you just go over and reel in?

    Thanks
