I have a T in my gas line and have never had a problem. If I run the kicker for long periods….sometimes have to pump the ball for the main motor to re-prime but other than that…no problems. As for steering….I have a connector Rod from main motor to kicker and also have a trollmaster to control RPM’s on kicker. This makes it slick for trolling from the counsel.

i get a kick out of the viqueen fans out there talkin down the Pack and talking up the queens. What a comedy! Here is a little dose of reality for you. Basing the hopes of your season on McNabb at QB will do you no better than last year with Favre…..mark these words now. And by the way….you might as well right now start a count on how many balls McNabb throws at the receiver’s feet all year. I guarantee it will drive you mad!
February 13, 2011 at 12:27 am #936962X 2 on the Cooper Discoverers!! They have been awesome for me. I have had them on 2 different Tahoes and loved them
February 6, 2011 at 12:04 am #934051I fished out of Nestor last June…the week right after Father’s Day. Had good luck on reefs as the Walleyes were just moving onto them nicely. Talk to the guy that runs the sport/bait shop in Nestor Falls next to the grocery store. He used to guide…and after I bought a map and bait from him…he freely let the information flow. he circled a bunch of spots and these became my milk run spots for the week. Jig and minnow produced the best for us as crawlers just didn’t do as well. My 6 year old son got to be a pro on vertical jigging Walleys on this trip…as well as my 67 year old Dad who has not done a lot of fishing in his life. We are going to spend the next years making up lost time….and we will go back to the Nestor area. Hope this helps!
BrianMay 23, 2010 at 2:16 am #874013There is a nice boat landing there in the campground. many boats use this ramp and bigger boats than yours. The Bay City Flats are relatively shallow. 3 -4 feet coming out of the cove where the ramp is and then gradually gets deeper. If you are careful….no problem. Good access to the head of the lake, Wisconsin back channel, and directly down to Maiden Rock, etc… I have used this ramp for many years. Also has a fish cleaning station. Nice campground also.

May 17, 2010 at 2:17 am #872355I have a Pointing Lab and I trained her myself. I have never been in a competition or trials as I only wanted a dog for a hunting companion…but I have to say she has been wonderful and worth every penny. I did not have any experience with a pointer before her. Look for a book called “The Pointing Labrador”. It was extrememly helpful and easy to follow as a “by the book”, or “do it yourself” manual. You won’t regret a Pointing Lab…Best of both worlds.

February 28, 2010 at 3:22 pm #847279i am sure there are many views about gear….but for me one thing is clear. On reels…..I use exclusively Daiwa Sea Lines…in either 17’s or 27’s depending on mono or lead core. These reels are dependable…and they read “true” on the count of feet out if they are spooled full. For rods….just look for one with backbone but has lots of give and bend for trolling. many will do….even simply ugly sticks work well. just my 2 cents.

July 30, 2009 at 2:10 pm #794217Now that is COOL! It would be a nice way to replenish the tackle box!
May 27, 2009 at 7:06 pm #779661Honda,
Is that section above the dam deep enough to run a deep v boat? I have a Lund Mr. Pike….and I have always wanted to fish there but have been fearful….so I have always headed to the Miss.
I kept seeing many trailers at the launch by Nestle in March and April…but just couldn’t pull the trigger and launch there….and I know they must have been catching some Walleyes!
Thanks,
BrianMay 27, 2009 at 3:20 pm #779528Great info here guys! One question I have is “What are the general areas you target with this presentation?” I would love to add this presentation to my “confidence” stuff but I just never really give it enough time. I fish pool 4 3-4 times per year…and would really love to do something else than just pull cranks on breaks in the lake… which obviously catches a lot of fish. Thanks for any info in advance!
BrianMay 19, 2008 at 2:23 am #686057It was a great day on the water! I usually go on week days to skip the weekend traffic. For a Friday….it was extrememly busy. I put in by the Marina…and had a guy tell me that Mcintosh was full. It looked full when I tooled around back there by Ventura. Anyway…plenty of room to have fun.
BrianNovember 22, 2007 at 3:07 am #626403Basically this is so politicized that we can atleast thank our lucky stars right now that the makeup of the court leans right, right now. My prediction is that it will fall along political lines…(no surprise here), and atleast for this case….will side with the gun owners of D.C. This should give a few years of precedent back to this case….that is until the balance gets tipped on the court….God help us sportsmen if that happens!
October 3, 2007 at 9:31 am #31206I have always shot the Powerbelts that are one size bigger….I think 270 grains? I switched to the platinums when they came out. I use 130 grains of 777 in a CVA 209 Optima Pro. I read in a field test by American Hunter Magazine that this load performed best with this powder amount….and you can get the 30 grain pellets. The last 3 deer I have killed have been pass through shots and last years was right at 100 yards. this set up for me is So accurate…that I would have a hard time changing bullets at this point. Just my experiences with this setup.

BrianSeptember 30, 2007 at 9:31 pm #612171I think you would like one of the Lowrance LMS models. I have the 334 and love it. the newer model is the LMS 500…or something like that. Great detail and features, color screen…and right in the price range you mentioned. Click on Jolly Ann Marine link at top of the page…i know they have them and are competitive on price. I am sure someone else will chip in on this…but I don’t think you can go wrong with one of the LMS models.
BrianApril 7, 2007 at 6:33 pm #558379I was thinking the same thing about the 4 strokes that are available now that can idle down low enough to troll. I have a 90 horse 2 stroke so in my case I have to have a kicker. If you do choose to hang a kicker on the back, you can easily tie into your fuel line if your kicker is a 4 stroke. All you need is to put a T into the line and the parts to do this are available at most hardware stores or boat shops. Ask at a local boat shop that rigs a lot of boats and they might show you how they do it. Kennedy in Cedar Rapids would probably show you what they use and I bet they would have the parts you need.
BrianFebruary 22, 2007 at 3:39 am #539995Thats what i was going to suggest. 2 different boats and the leaks were from livewell hoses and clamps!
December 16, 2006 at 1:27 am #511883I looked at all of the resorts from the links provided and I was also thinking that cabin 5 at hunters looked like the best fit for my group. Thanks guys!
BrianDecember 15, 2006 at 4:45 pm #511706Thanks guys! Scott…Last time I was there…we did exactly that. Put in one day on the East side, the next couple days on the west because of the wind. The most important thing to us is finding a cabin big enough to accomodate 7 guys.
Thanks for the all of the suggestions.
BrianOctober 21, 2006 at 2:36 am #491211For those who aren’t ever worried about losing firearms rights….lets just look to Australia, England, and Canada. I bet the people in Australia who had to turn in their semi-automatic shotguns thought it would “never happen”. I bet the people of England who can’t own a handgun….yes folks…thats everyone, thought that would “never happen”. If you think it could “never happen” here….then go ahead and trust a congress headed by the likes of Kennedy, Schumer, Pelosi, Feinstein, Conyers, Kerry, and Waxman….to name a few. Having the attitude that it could “never happen here” is just down right scary to me.
October 20, 2006 at 12:20 pm #490963I would agree with Chris that the political mood of the country does tend to point to a change leaning towards Democrats….simply because the vast majority of Americans don’t think for themselves on issues and let polls or the media make their decisions for them. It is really sad because I for one do not want my second amendment rights to take a backslide of 6 years. I also can’t fathom the idea of activist judges legislating from the bench, and the ideals of the ACLU taking root. What a mess this could turn into. Also, imagine if we just deal with International crisis through the United Nations. Don’t get me wrong…..Bush has made plenty of mistakes but I think just mistakes in judgement…..he has stood by his convictions…..and I happen to believe in them. Where we are possibly headed is scary to me!
BrianAugust 15, 2006 at 11:43 pm #469572I know of 4 different boats that have used a product called NP-1. This is what I used to fasten a transducer block on my boat…and it worked awesome. Once you get it in the right place…it isn’t gonna go anywhere. I think you can get it in grey or black to seal around the block also as to kind of trim it out to look nice. I got it at a local hardware supplier on the suggestion of a guy at the local Marina. Give it a try….
BrianAugust 2, 2006 at 12:41 pm #465913Thanks for the feedback. I think I had a little bad luck. They were trailer radials….and my rig is stored inside at all times unless on the road. I think I may bump up the pressure to the 45-50 range and go from there. I just didn’t want to wear them out fast….but I’ll take safety before replacing tires every few years.
Thanks for the input,
BrianMay 22, 2006 at 2:22 am #447991Thanks Guys for the info! This definitely gives us a place to start. James….not really an expert on dragging jigs…so do you drag up or downstream…and I am assuming it is SLOW? Also…what kind of depths on the current breaks have been the best? Thanks for any info you have!
BrianFebruary 26, 2006 at 3:45 am #424551I also watched this show in amazement. Even though I knew I was watching some sort of a nut job, I thought it was extrememly interesting and couldn’t help to feel for him in the end. I think the battle of living with and protecting the bears took over the battle he was fighting with his own demons of addiction. This definitely shows how something that starts as a good intention can just get drastically distorted and spin out of control. A good intention of protecting bears turned into a personal spiral of destruction for his girlfriend and himself….even if he really would have wanted his life to end that way.
May 22, 2005 at 3:56 am #364310Your best bet is to use the ramp at Bay City and just motor down the lake to Maiden Rock. Its not to far of a trip and the ramp is very nice. Your also close to the head of the lake that way….lots of spots close to fish…or head down to the flats at Maiden Rock. just my two cents…
