I was out there today for 6 hours and the rollers were up. Blown out best describes it. Caught a sauger in 13fow upstream of the first wingdam below the dam. I saw a well known pool 4 guide make a stop on the Wisconsin side downstream of the sand flats. He spent 10 minutes there at dusk and loaded the boat…I didn’t see a rod bend. I mention that because he wasn’t upstream of everts at any other point while I was there. I don’t think many fish are either.
I’d steer clear of the ACQ treated plywood and lumber when its contacting aluminum. Overtime it will corrode. Two metals (copper from the pressure treatment and aluminum boat hull) shouldn’t be wet together. That’s why there are sacrificial anodes in different locations on your outboard. Marine grade plywood is a better choice. If you’re worried about it rotting treat it with CPES from Jamestown distributors. My 2 cents.
I have 15000 on my Goodyear silent armors and love em. 285/70-17s fit in my 2500 wheel well just fine. Not as aggressive as the duratracs, but less highway noise and still pull me around on unplowed lakes with medium snow.
I have a DH custom noodle with the castration rings and a DH perch pounder with the frabill reel tape. I prefer the rings. The reel doesn’t move a bit.
Navionics was 10 bucks or so when I bought it. Its worth every penny! Lots of lakes have 1′ increments. I use it a lot for scouting before I hit a lake. Speed is decently accurate. Only problem I have with it is my phone wants to sleep. Every time it sleeps it takes 10 seconds or so to re-acquire location, direction of travel and speed.
