Plant Liberty Beans in the spring. Mix your tank with Liberty link herbicide with a pre-emerge with S-metolachlor in it for some residual. I had a giant ragweed issue until I switched herbicides this year. I had weed free beans for the first time in 4 years. It smoked them.
If you want to do corn, do liberty corn. Ask a friend with a RUP license to get you some Acuron. Smokes everything, has atrazine, generic Callisto, s-metolachlor and bicyclopyrone in it. I have not tried this for corn personally, but from what I’ve been told, plant, spray and walk away…..
If no access to Acuron, you can get s-metolachor, generic Callisto and Liberty without a RUP and I’m sure that will be plenty good.
Pre-emergents will save you a lot of headaches, it did for me.

Change the sensitivity to the lowest setting. This has worked for me on Brownings and Coverts.

Contact your local FSA and see if there’s any CRP programs available. IF you put 20 acres into CRP, you can plant 10% of that into food plots legally. Best of both worlds if there are CRP acres still available.

We send them here. The teeth are surprisingly easy to remove.

    Kenetrek BRIDGER RIDGE HIGH
And I would highly recommend their gators as well.
It’ll keep the morning moisture from soaking your pant legs, then into your socks and ultimately your feet.

Anyone looking at the Kenetrek Bridger Ridge High’s. They seem somewhat hard to find. Scheels in Rochester couldn’t even place an order for them from Kenetrek as they are out. I did find this site selling them on clearance for $119.99 with free shipping if anyone is interested.

We run 10 coverts on our farm and set the sensitivity to LOW on all of them. MP8’s and red 40’s.

Fall rye, winter rye, cereal rye are basically the same. Albert Lea seed company if you’re in southern mn. Should be able to get it from any seed dealer or coop though.

I copied this from another site, but have been using this the past few years and is a great green fall/winter plot and also improves the soil for next season.

“Cereal rye is always my first choice over wheat or any other grain because it is higher in protein, requires no fertilizer, will grow on low PH soils, has alleopathic chemicals that discourage weeds, is a nitrogen scavenger and a root system that breaks up soil hardpan and improves soil.” And I’ll add it stays green much longer then oats or wheat, after the first hard frost oats/wheat are done. Rye stays green even under snow. And just so we’re on the same page, we are talking Cereal Rye, not Rye grass. You don’t want to plant Rye grass.

That being said, it would not be a waste of money in my opinion. And if you want to start a year round food plot, mix your clover in with the rye. The rye will keep the browse pressure off the young clover. Next spring frost seed more clover, and when your rye starts to grow again in the spring, mow it off and you’ll have a fantastic stand of clover for all summer or until you choose to work it up and plant something else.

Since none of us were there and actually know. I’m just going to assume the guy is a good hunter and paid just under $5K to lease a piece of property from an outfitter because this deer was believed to be living on it. Him being a good hunter, he decides he’s going after this deer and this deer only. Planted his own food plots and hung his own stands cause he new the deer’s travel patterns and was rewarded with a buck of a lifetime.
Until we know differently, lets give the guy credit for making the shot when it counts. A deer of this calibur has a story and it will be told sooner or later, until then lets not assume the worst.

New this year: It is not necessary to enter into the lottery for time periods E through H. The E through H time periods will be available to anyone. The E through H time period licenses will be sold as a surplus license at ELS agent locations in mid March.

This is from the DNR website. It reads to me that there is no limit. Anyone who wants to go can buy a tag.

Steve, I’ve been nothing but toasty warm with my white bunny boots, sure a little bulky but toasty! I also have 1500gram Lacrosse Alpha Burlys. A hand warmer atop my toes, between my liner sock and wool sock, same thing, toasty. Never found a warm packboot for me yet.

X2 on the bunny boots and a fraction of the cost.

Good thing she didn’t move the beer. Might’ve heard sirens in Byron last night.

How big do you think the pods will get compared to a regular ag bean?

I don’t think they make that kit anymore Steve. They have the Scrape Line Kit now. Comes with dominant buck urine and lickin stick scents, and biodegradeable scent cups to replace the water proof dirt. Search for that or you can buy online direct from H.S.

Thanks for the info. Going to have to go up and take a look at one. The pictures just don’t seem to do them justice.
