I live real close to the ramp and had been watching it most of the week, with the wind the last two days it opened up alot but still quite a bit of ice holding under the bridge to the wing dam below the ramp. Anything north of the sunken barge is froze solid with very little to any open water. Hopefully the extended forecast holds true and things start to open up.

Anyone else find the car by the 494 ramp?
If I remember correctly they pulled some out last spring in the same area.

Anyone know if its locked up from the confluence to the dam?

Channel is pretty much froze north of down town, all the way past Lillydale. Ice looks rough and open patches here and there. As of noon today.

494 ramp was packed Saturday. Empty parking lot when we got there. By the time we had the boat in there was 6 boats behind us. It only got busier from there.

We stayed away from the community holes looking for fish. Found a few but had to work for them. Mostly nice saugers. Sounds like skunked was the report from a lot of boats.

I can second what mike said. Lots of boats out Saturday. Community spots were busy and not much catching going on. Most of the boats cleared out when the clouds and wind rolled in. Water is still real cold and plenty of ice yet. Every fish was worked for.

Thanks Matt! Yes the ice was thick it took till about 9 or so for it to all clear out after that it was pretty clear but cold. Plenty of small fish nothing big wanted to eat.

Was out tonight until 11 or so, the wind was whipping pretty good for awhile which made boat control a challenge. Looks like tonight will be my last night of 2020. It was a great year see you out there in 2021.

I second what Matt said about the ice last night, it was a pain to deal with, it wasn’t skim ice either some pretty thick and substantial sheets.

Unfortunately I think it’s gonna lock up pretty tight with the colder temps on the way. Hopefully there are some warm temps in the future.

Charles if you keep it between the buoys you’ll be ok. As mentioned before watch for ice, I did see one or two logs coming down yesterday but other than that there was no issue running up river.

Pretty new here but my name is Jake, been fishing pool 2 seriously for the last year or so, should have started a lot sooner since I live less than 5 min from the 494 landing. The last week before the recent cold snap was pretty good for me. Was out last night and it was a lot slower. River went down a bit from last week and the flow is real slow and I was also shocked at the clarity of the water. Slow slow slow was the ticket, water temp was 32- 33.5 If anyone sees me out there don’t be afraid to say hello, I drive the black and white 20 ft Alumacraft with a 200 merc tiller on the back.
Some pics of my better recent fish.

    Mike w,
One of those day light fish from the 29th looks like it’s missing an eye on the right side. If so I may have caught the same fish on the 3rd, right at 27”.
