Hit pool 4 for a couple hours from the bank this morning, the bite was pretty good for me. Caught prolly 20 walleyes, a lot of small ones with a few whitebass and sheephead mixed in and kept my limit of 4 perfect 16-18 inch eyes. 1/8 oz black jig and a fathead caught all the fish.

As some have said Lacannes. As for lakes to try, my favorite is tetonka west of Faribault by Waterville. Also don’t be afraid to shorefish the cannon river, there can be awesome multi species fishing anywhere from Faribault to down past Welch.

Just remember that if it’s an infested body of water it’s a no go if you plan on using them for bait.

I knew the guy, truly sad indeed. I use to fish with him almost every week several years ago. My prayers to the family.

If your wanting to target flatheads I wouldn’t fish that stretch of river, there just isn’t a big enough population especially big fish in my opinion. Your much better off fishing from st Anthony falls down even better pool 2.

As fishblood said. Fish a spot for 30 minutes and if no action move. Fish structure man-made or natural, and don’t hesitate to fish shallow, a few feet of water can hold big fish. Also if you want to up your odds a little fish the wisconsin side of the river so you can fish 3 lines and can virtually use any fish for bait as long as it’s caught on same water body and meets size requirements and you don’t have more than your limit.

Your best bet is the public fishing dock on the down stream side of bay point park it is handicap accessible but it’s at a steep angle down onto the dock, you do have a good chance at walleye there though. Also right there on levee road across from pottery pond there is 2 gravel lots in the bay by the marina, you have a less chance of walleyes there but there is still a chance.

They must be ignorant of the laws, as you stated you can legally use 3 lines on Wisconsin side and 2 on Minnesota side. The only thing that is relatively new on the Mississippi border waters is the walleye/sauger limit is now 4 min 15″(walleye) with 1 walleye/sauger over 20.

Just an fyi for people who may not know. MN inland waters, Lake and shovelnose sturgeon can be targeted catch and release only no tag needed, Same dates every year June 16th to April 14!

Just an fyi, the MN inland section of pool 3 has a 15 inch minimum for walleye with 1 walleye/sauger over 20 inches and a 6 fish limit but once you get to Prescott south the limit drops to 4. So just be aware if you are fishing the inland section only keep a 4 fish limit if you want to head down river and fish the border section of the mississippi.
