I own a hardwood flooring company (Voyageur Flooring). So maybe I can be of some help. One thing that you will need to do, make sure that your floor joist are 16 inches on center. They generally are but ever once and while I’ll see them at 24inches. If they are 24, you might consider laying some plywood over your existing subfloor.

It depends on what your fishing, where your fishing(lakes or river), and how many people will be fishing with you? And even how much canoe you are will to carry?
I’ve fished out of an Old Town a few time with a buddy and really liked it.

What part of the st. croix where you on?
I was up there yesterday as well, with little luck.

I’ll be heading up there Aug 31 and returning Sept 4 so I’ll give you report when I return.

I’ve had some trouble getting into big bass on tonka this year. Sounds like I should start throwing those monster baits.

An other good rod company to look at is Temple Fork. I bought a Temple Fork 7wt for river smallies and river carp. It performs very well, and the price was great.

St. Croix also makes a great rod. I have a 3wt St. Croix that I love fishing.

What ever you do, buy a rod with a lifetime warranty.
