Yes, I did let the Good Dr. catch all the fish…I have been catching them the whole month….it became Bluegill fishing for me….and I was ready to go play some Minigolf with my kids. It was great to have Jeremys family over for the fun….

He states “I saw a school of 20 pound bass” and thinks he was once hooked into a 28 pounder! Write up in Jan. 2010 Bass Master Mag.

Joe, get the nada for the 175hp….then the price for the 115hp….subtract for difference and add the difference to the package price….should get close that way……DocFrigo spend your moldy money and get your Ranger!

It is not just GM. Last Sat. I went to Cabelas to buy a reel. (it was locked in a case) The 2 guys working behind it…felt like putting away stock and talking to each other than help customers…and the store was packed…

Poor Doc? Maybe if you were home (were I would be if my wife were up for “cookies” ) instead of sitting around some bait shop,(sorry Dean) your wife wouldn’t leave you out in the cold when you came looking

I had the 787 on my last boat and it is a great little unit. As stated easy to use and the screen clairity compared to lowrance is (IMO) like watching HD cable or the old rabit ears.

Thanks Doc. BUT That might be a good idea. and well with yourover casting a muskie lure all day–I’ll just have YOU row row row the boat. That should help build some muscle so by next year you can handle a little casting.

You may have spun the hub in the prop. If you have an extra put it on and see. Or take prop to a “prop guy” new hub about $40.00

Zach–I by no means work for HB. To be told I am a Mr. Mom. I get out for little spurts here and there (not like Docfrigo) I started with the 787 to see how HB was before making the $2K investment. Well the 787 was a great little unit. The 997si is just over the TOP. Even if you did not use the SI–this unit still IMO outperforms lowrance with the detail and color in the screen. The bottom color is distinctive and changes with the slightest variance. The weeds show distinct marks–I bought this unit because I don’t get out on a regular basis and looked at this purchase as my “heads-up” on the water.
I will sell my boat for another, but I wont be selling the 997si with it

HUMMINBIRD. I would be willing to bet that in the near future–you will see used lowrance units flooding the market. I had the 787 on my last boat and put a 997si on the one I have now. Both units give an incredible picture on the screen. The screen is clear and leaves little guess work. Running the unit is pretty basic, and as you get to know how to use it–well it becomes incredable. The screen size is great. Check the yahoo link the photos show the truth–If you buy a lowrance–I am willing to bet it will be on Ebay as soon as you see someone else running this BIRD. BTW I was out this moring for an hour and just trolled around the lake for fun. Then back to work. You can buy the right unit the first time or you can always wonder why you didn’t. The only issue I have with the HB is the size of the transducer and getting it set up right. Once you get past that your set!!

If your console humminbird has the dual beam feature you can set it to the 60 degree coverage and that should do it. Also as stated make sure the locator is not hooked up to the trolling motor battery.

Yellowdog–why not just take one or two–It’s not like Dean could catch you if he got mad about it! HI Dean hope to see you in a few weeks.

That Humminbird is excellent choice, but you will need to put the lowrance up front and your bird in the back. If you put the side imaging on the trolling motor–the quick turns (it makes) will blur the image. You can search at Yahoo groups for guys that have posted photos from the unit.

I have mine taped so it points down at about 45 degrees. then I spin the cord to check around the hole.

I also have both and for walleye fishing I prefer to use the Quantum-E10 It pulls line in slower than the Shimano and feel it keeps me fishing slower. I think Dean at Everts resort has best price on the Shimano if you go with that reel and are in the area.

Well you got closer than I. My little guy (2.4years)hates having his life jacket on. I try to put it on him around the house(to get him used to it) and all he does is cry and pull at it. Anyway, with our 4 year old daughter I would bring along a favorite toy or something good to eat. (bubbles or fruit snacks) Also our 4 year old prefers to feed the fish. So maybe a bag of frozen corn and offer to let Cameron feed the fish as you get things ready and set off. I have even considered putting a make shift sandbox in the boat to keep their attention on something fun. First I have to get that life jacket in place. Have fun and most important make it FUN.

YES I have the “old” black and white H2O and just put the new chip in yestarday. (jollyann) Have not been on water yet, but it pulls the lakes up and looks like it will be fun. I say go for it. aj
