My Grandpa used to pressure cook it and then pickled it.

My mechanic said to stay away from the 2008 to 2013 models as they all had different problems.
I made my own with some foam and some plano cases.
Could look at the Maynards tackle glow dancer or stingray if you can’t find that exact kind. Maynards is located in Winsted MN.
It was nothing fancy. I was at crafts direct in St Cloud and picked up some foam they had there. I believe it was a High Density Foam in a 1″x 15″x 17″ piece in a bag made by Airtex. I just cut the foam into pieces to fit into the cases I had. All the slots for the lures were cut with an exacto knife.
I would give Bemidji a try. If the wives get board they can go into town and do some shopping, there are restaurants around if you want to get out of the house for awhile. I have stayed with North Country guide service and Bill Lundy and they were both top notch.
I did this with foam from the craft store for my collection as the wife calls it.
Throw my name in. My 6 and 9 year old would love to go and catch some Mille Lacs walleye’s.
Yes Thorne bros made all the rods. I don’t have the time or talent to make rods. I don’t like taping reels on, so the reason for all the reel seats. I’m only selling because I want to pay some stuff down, simplify a little and my wife has to have surgery so my time fishing will be limited this winter. Any other ? let me know.
Updated 8/22/2018:
I have 4 Custom Thorne Bros Rods that I would like to sell. All rods have been used 1 or 2 times and were in the $112 to $130 range because of the reel seats, blanks and guides.

Nathan, what did you use to cut the slots out of the foam in your Rapala boxes? Looks like you cut pieces out rather than cut straight through. Very nice!
Tucker
I just used a sharp hobby exact o knife and did cut pockets in the foam for jigging raps and long slots for rattle baits leaving foam on the bottom. For the jigs I made a paper template with a hole were I wanted the jigs and then laid the template inside the box and made a bunch of dots on the foam and then took the same exact o knife and made a cross shape in the foam for the lures, for the longer lures I had to angle the slots so the covers would shut. Lucky I have an understanding wife who gives me a lot of garage time, fishing time and money to buy lures.
I used the Plano Elite Series Crankbait Stowaway box (3700) as the inside is removable. I think there are some other box’s in that series that have removable insides insides for need of cutting the slots out. I then went to a craft store and got some 3/4″ foam and started cutting slots.

Looking at boats as well, I was surprised to see even the Mirro-Craft aggressor series of boats look pretty nice as well. Haven’t seen them up close yet though.
Willing to sell just the head unit only for $300. Call/text 612-685-0934 for more info and pics Thanks Nathan.
I think it would look and work better if it was on the ice over a 8″ hole. Awesome setup though and hopefully it will catch you many fish.
How big is the package folded up?
22″x45″x36″ packed and 60″x45″x80″ setup and weighs 60 lbs.
If you DIY i’m not sure gluing the foam to the bottom is the best idea… I would cut it to fit tightly, but then be able to remove it if water gets in there for quick and easy drying.
This is what I did, I bought a bigger piece and was able to get 3 box’s out of one. I then cut them a little bigger to have a tighter fit. If a person was worried about the foam slipping out you could always put some heavy duty double stick tape down that they sell at the craft store as well.
Picked these up and so far so good.
