big pike sorry to hear about st. croix rods. me personally i have three DAVE GENZ ICE BUSTERS and i couldn’t ask for a better rod and reel combo for hardwater. They are extremely sensitive, great back bone , and very tough. I put mine to the test everyday on the ice and they perform…. You can get them at any sports store… good luck hope i was able to give you some insight. oh and they are about half the price of st. croix.
