Tom Boley and Clayton Schick both have new videos with the Kalins search bait. Both were catching walleyes and using plastic or crawlers. It comes with straight and slow roll hooks on an easy clip system.

That is definitely another bait I’d like to try. I like the versatility of casting, drifting, or trolling it.

Have you seen the price…$10. They ripped off Walleye Nation Creation’s jig design to come up with their search jig. The WNC ones are just as good, and cheaper.

Not for or against FFS, but if you think fish can’t feel the sonar beam, think again. Next time your boat is on the trailer, turn on your 2D and go put your hand on the bottom of the transducer, you will feel it! Now amplify that with the extended power of FFS and the increased transmission through water vs. air and it makes sense that fish would feel it. Yes vibrations from boats and lures are felt too, but those are dispersed evenly through the water, sonar is aimed in a concentrated beam.

How do you all search for out of state vehicles? Are you flying in, buying sight unseen and driving them back?

they would have to pay me to use their app but they can’t even pay their own bills. it has been public knowledge for years that their app has been absolute garbage.

my free streams are working great in perfect HD. I don’t understand why people keep giving them money

Mind if I ask what streams you use? Can you view them via a Roku because watching hockey on a phone honestly sucks.

Thanks so much guys, exactly the help I needed.

Grouse, I’m curious about the “dodgy” wiring when using ring terminals to connect my Helix directly to the starting battery. I have an inline fuse so I should be protected and have heard running power directly from the battery gives much better/cleaner power versus bundling with other wires and fuse blocks. Hopefully I’m not messing something up.

It’s not much for <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Walleye content but watch a few videos from NDYakAngler to restore your faith in fishing videos. Just a dude in his kayak fishing peaceful MN and ND waters and putting the hurt on mostly bass, but he dedicates some time to big pike, musky and even crappie. Almost zero electronics on the show. He does have like a 10 yr old single mode, low-res depth finder but half the episodes it’s not even on the mount. He’s the opposite of every other youtube fisherman – he does have sponsors but he very subtly works them in without making it a commercial and NEVER says “SMASH THAT “SUBSCRIBE” BUTTON” let alone EVER asks anyone to subscribe, his content speaks for itself.

Can definitely vouch for this…his delivery and tone are so relaxing and he’s a great stick too

Make it a rule that life jackets must be worn at all times when in the boats. Don’t make this a kids rule, set an example for them. Almost every year someone capsizes and drowns in the BW, this summer an 18yo died when his boat capsized when fishing. I had an outfitter tell me that of the last 48 drownings, all but one were not wearing their life jacket.

You need to ask each kid individually. Playing songs you like won’t do much for them, personalize it. You may not like their selections, but the kids will love it.

There are single 24v batteries available. If you want to simplify your batteries. I went with a single 24v100ah battery this winter. From what I have saw so far it is much more battery then I need. But on the other side it will be great for weekend camping trips on the river.

I’ve looked at them, but I don’t think it would fit in my battery compartment.

You might want to check to see if your chargers can support lithium. I recently checked mine to see if they will be compatible with a lithium and all of them were not. They are only to be used with lead acid or AGM.

Yep, it looks as though my Minnkota charger won’t work, so that will be another expense

The reel arrived yesterday and I have it mounted on the rod and the braid on it. Things seem very well balanced. From reeling the line on I can tell its an incredibly smooth reel. I’ve read thru the instructions and think I have the brake set properly as well as the spool tension while allowing the lure to free fall. I’m walking it down to the stream this afternoon and plan on practice casting using what I’ll most likely be using about 90% of the time while actually fishing.

One last [hopefully] question: The braid seems like it may need some tension on it when reeling it in. Do I just allow the natural tension from the weight of the bait and water resistance create the needed tension or should I be retrieving while running the line between the thumb and fore finger of the rod holding hand to get the tension I think it needs?

Did you use mono as backing? The braid may be spinning on the spool.

I’m glad to see somebody calling them out, especially if they are ignoring you and not honoring the warranty as quickly as humanly possible.

I buy lithium batteries like candy, and as far as I’m concerned Dakota Lithium at this stage is a brilliant marketing company not a battery company.

As others mentioned, their cells come straight from China (just like virtually every other battery in the world) and at least some of their models are now entirely assembled in China in the exact same factories that make almost identical batteries that often cost 75% less than their amazing “Made in America” batteries.

I enjoy actual Made in USA products as much as anybody, and will often pay a premium (e.g. Redwing boots) but I also have no problem accepting that most of the world’s goods are made in China, and I’ve been ordering Life PO4 batteries from the same company for 5 years now without a single issue.

If I did ever have an issue, they would probably treat me exactly how Dakota Lithium is treating you, but that is exactly what I would expect. To pay 3-4 times the cost for the same treatment is pretty hard to swallow, especially when it is all based on bullshit marketing and image.

Care to share the brand of batteries you buy? You get them from Amazon or elsewhere?

Holy crap, this thread is hard to read. Can we leave politics off this forum and just discuss the outdoors?

Not going to go into Chiropractor vs PT, but if you remember one thing from this thread, remember this. NEVER let a chiro adjust your neck. I’ve seen multiple instances in my career where a chiro had adjusted someone’s neck and in doing so, dissected the patient’s carotid artery. This is a life threatening condition and nothing to take a chance on. I have no issues with them cracking backs, but stay away from the neck.

Chiropractor isnt a MD so they cant perscribe you pills anyway.

Some can.[/quoteI think those are called D.O.’s

DOs are osteopathic doctors, very similar to MDs and definitely not chiropractors.

I assume (dumb me) you are using a bottle jack. If so use a 2×6 block under the jack so you don’t run out of jack as mentioned. Once you have figured out how to do this make sure everything especially the wood blocks get into your truck so you have everything you need to change a flat on the road.

I’ve got a floor jack I intend to use.

Thanks guys. Looking for a little clarity as some say don’t place the jack under the axel and some say it’s ok to do so.

    Wow, quick replies, thanks guys.

I’ll be using my boat on the St. Croix. Any particular depth or structure I should be looking for?

Not to be cynical, but this stuff is just applied via adhesive backing, correct? It will be interesting to see how that adhesive holds up to extreme heat and cold over time.

My waters have very LITTLE Zebra Mussels anymore. They are nowhere in the VISABLE depths. Central Sewage for the whole river area has wiped them & others out.

It may have been crap to everyone. But it provided a very good food chain of life for our sport fish.

Add in EPA controlling new dock types & construction ??
We have lost so much weed areas. That had loads of schools of all types of new hatched out fish types. Deserts underwater. Do 1 better deed ? Destroy some other parts of life.

    Oh well

So you’re saying your river had sewage in it…and you were happy about that? Confused?

Scheels is great but for a NE metro guy never make it there. Go to Thorne bros the most because my kids are at super rink all the time. I love it there, but they are definitely more expensive than every other place in the cities.
