    Kcir_R,
I have also been interested in the set back plate that Ranger is installing. I did a little research and here is what I have found. Ranger recommends a 3″ Slide Master manual plate.
From the manufacture (R & R Design, Inc. 972-524-1789) the cost is $290 plus shipping.
I would also like to hear from someone that has one and is it worth the cost & effort.

    Good Luck,

    ecnook,
I fish with a buddy who has one.
It is a heavy mil thickness similar to the back window of a convertible. It works great this time of year and it was included when he purchased his 07 619.
Give Ranger a call they have them.

    Good Luck,

    jbradley,
Just finished totally refurbishing a 87 Lund Rebel project boat.
    You have several options.
    – One is use marine grade plywood,
(Expensive & hard to find in some areas)
    – Two is to use ACX Exterior Plywood
(One side is smooth the other a little rough but the glue used in the plys is weather rated)

What I did was to fully cover all sides with a marine epoxy & then carpeted over that.
I would suggest 3/4 to 19/32 thickness for a casting deck like you are making.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Good Luck,

    Glenn,
I also own a 38 & have found some issues when using some high definition map cards. There is so much data it takes time to load when you have the unit zoomed in so it seems to stall. The memory is not sufficient to load that much data quickly. I do not have the problem when I am running off the internal hard drive.

All that said I upgraded to software to ver. 2.5 and have seen fewer issues since.

    Good Luck,

    ssaall,
What time of year and where in DC are you thinking about going?
The Sturgeon Bay area is south DC and Northpoint is at the top.
There are some excellent campgrounds in both areas.
There are also some outstanding opportunities for excellent catches in either walleyes or smallmouth.

    Let us know,

I am also one in agreement with LundgEYE.
I have used a number of different kinds of threads and Kevlar coated is my favorite.
It allows you to tie a bit tighter and is lays perfectly when winding.
Although not necessary I use a drop of super thin Zap after whipping several times at the head.

    Good Luck,

    Josh,
Here is link for you to use:
    http://www.mvs.usace.army.mil/navigation1/NavCharts.html
This book is a wealth of information! Last published in 2001 book runs $37.50 but, you could do this.

Download the entire book in Adobe PDF
(It will take a while even using broadband)
    http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/Documents/MissRiver/EntireMap.pdf
Now you can go through what pools you actually fish, or

Go to: http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/mrcharts.cfm click on the river map and just download certain sections and print out whatever pages you want!

The size of the book is 11 x 17 so if you can find a printer that will accomodate that size paper you could print out just what you need. Adobe will however print out whatever size you have available on your printer but you will lose some resolution.

Being able to study the maps on-line is a real bonus.

    Good Luck,

    Catchsumfish,
Since being recently retired and having a long cold winter I have taken up the hobby. Rewarding and somewhat gratifying to turn out jigs that will catch fish. Cost effective, I think not when considering your time and effort.

Take a look at this site it provides a wealth of information for newbies & seasoned pro’s alike for making your own equipment. http://www.tackleunderground.com/

    Dan,
Thanks again, another nice item for the boat.
I noticed a plethora of items on your dash but what exactly is that flat tray?
Something you manufactured or customized yourself?

Currently the Power Systems run about $2,200-$2,400 depending where in the country you have it installed. The Non-Power System according to Frank will be increasing slightly (+$200 or so) after the first of the year. Currently they will cost you about $1,000.

A substaintial difference between the systems but it is my understanding that they will be recommending the Power Systems for all larger tillers, probably over 115hp.

A large number of anglers from our club use Chatillon Series Mechanical Scales. They are available in a number of models with capacities from 2 pounds to 100 pounds.
We are fortunate that one of our members has a source for these (they are a bit expensive) and he will calibrate your scale for you should you want to check the accuracy from time to time.
    Good Luck

I have run tillers for quite a few years and I agree with the other posters. You will need to balance the tensioner on your motor & trim tab based upon the normal weight & load you carry. It will take a while to get used to it but once the experimenting is over it will be much easier to control.

    Good Luck

That does make sense. I will need to do some more probing with the tester, switch & power block.
    Thanks
