Going on my 3rd season with franchi Instic SL and absolutely love it. Only complaint is with the auto safety which I quickly disabled after my first hunt. It is super easy to remove though and requires zero gunsmithing skills. The gun is very light and great for those long walks. Have put probably 750+ target loads and a 100+ pheasant loads through it with no issue. I looked at getting the CZ and the weatherby and and am very happy that I paid a little more to get the franchi.
The dad shot 8 times as the bear charged at point blank and missed all 8 shots.. a lot of people always like to think they would be able to shoot a charging bear but it doesn’t always play out like you see in the movies.
It’s been years since I’ve been out there but this was a great campsite. main lake point with good fishing right off the shore.
They make great ice fishing rods but make sure to check out their open water rods as well. I own a couple of them and love them. They are spendy but are very good quality and it’s nice knowing you are backed by a great company like that.
I saw that truck there on Sunday morning and it was covered in snow so it has been there for awhile.
I see guys do this all the time and will never understand it. Anything above couple miles per hour and you can see the shaft flexing. I think that potentially breaking or causing unnecessary wear is a good enough of a reason to just pull the motor out of the water when you move.
Min Kota also has an App that you can download and you can use your phone as a remote. It actually works pretty well if your remote were to die and you couldn’t use that.
I would add the dimensions as well just to save yourself time from having to answer that question.
Besides the tools to change a tire make sure you can lower the tire as well before you’re in a situation that you need the spare. Before they went to stainless steel cables a lot of gm’s were galvanized and had a safety catch in case the cable rusted and broke. Well the safety’s rusted so you can’t lower your spare and have to take the bolts out of the carrier to lower it. Some also have locks in the tube to prevent theft and those rust as well. Especially the fords.
I learned this the hard way in the middle of nowhere on the way to LOTW. Tire popped off the bead and should have been an easy fix putting the spare on but came to find out that I could not lower the spare due to that rusted safety latch. I got lucky and met a local guy who brought out a grinder and I cut the saftey latch off and lowered the spare. Without that grinder I would have had to call a tow.
Wondering the same thing but on vermillion. Extended forecast is not looking favorable but things can change fast.
Anyone have any updates on how the Ramps are looking after the snowfall?
They’re predicting 12”+ Tuesday though Wednesday night. Was planning on heading up Thursday..what are the changes birchdale will be plowed out by Thursday afternoon?
Buy them on Amazon. I bought a 2 pack m18 6ah for $183 on Amazon vs $250 at Home Depot or northern tool .
Heading up next week on Thursday. Curious If anyone thinks the forks will be blown by then or if they will hold up with this colder weather?
Was up at Sportsman’s over the weekend and had 40+ deg both Friday and Saturday. Plenty of snow melt going on, but I’m sure it will be a while yet. Forecast for rest of March doesn’t seem to show much of a warmup.
Heading up there this weekend. How did you guys do?

Helix 7 is a good size. Screen is big enough to see everything clearly and not too bulky. If you do plan on adding live scope I would go with the helix 9.I am going to do the 7. For <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>ice fishing does it matter if it is DI or SI?
No it does not matter for ice fishing. The base model GPS/2D will give you all the functionalities. If you want to put it on your boat, I would consider getting the DI or SI model and networkable version.

Once you get the helix’s setting dialed in they are far better than a vexilar. There is a bit of a learning curve to the Helix’s. Had a buddy who refused to use his helix on the ice and I told him to update to latest software and dialed in some settings for him (mainly a-scope and zoom function) and now he only uses the helix.
Wrap in tinfoil on baking sheet. Butter, onion, lemon and some seasoning. Bake at 350 for 30 min. Probably my favorite way to cook walleye.
I have 32” and 36” and much rather prefer the 36”. Never had any issues with it being too long in my flip over or hub.
The okuma c10 has way too small of a spool in my opinion. It’s fine for braid but will cause some pretty bad coiling with mono.
Scheels has had them in stock for awhile now. I think the shortage is over..
