If I cleaned that stuff out the Mrs would know how much I have spent and that would not be good. Good luck on the sales.

I received an Aqua-view from the folks for Christmas. Used this summer on clear water lakes, Mille Lacs, Gull, and its an awesome tool. Mark the fish, drop the cam and see whats down there. I have seen the ones with direction as well, and for anchored or thru the ice would be awesome. Otherwise direction of boat travel will dictate the direction of cam. My aqua is the cheapest one, but works well.

I must chime in on the Olympus as well. I have the 490 zoom and for the last two yrs have taken thousands of pictures with it. I paid 399 for it back then and never regret doing it. I researched for a yr before plunking down my hard earned but its awesome. Far away distance pics of detail are not great but for that I have a 35mm cam with a 400mm zoom lens. The battery use on this cam is unbelievable. You can buy the Olympus battery packs at best buy for 28 bucks, but I go to walmart and buy the energizer lithium ion batteries in a 4 pak for sub ten bucks. I estimate that I can get about 250 to 300 pics off a set of batteries. A buddy has a sony mavica with floppy drive, which is handy, but quality of pics does not campare to the Olympus.
    Hope this helps.

If a parent is a MN resident, his mom has MN license and so do you, he can fish and keep a limit of his own I believe. When I come to MN from out of state, my daughter(15) can fish with me, but any fish she catches must go towards MY daily limit. But if I were to buy her a license, then she could keep her limits as well. If I read the regs (need to be a scientist or a prof, or lawyer) correctly you are all good.

Suggested retail prices are just that…..a few yrs back a large sneaker company(cough reebok cough) got into abit of a tiff with the Federal Trade Commission, slap on the wrist was in the tens of millions of dollars. Once a retailer buys the product, they own it. Sure, a supplier can cut them off, but a lil phone call to FTC may rectify the situation. I deal with stores and manufacturers, and when they get on my tail about pricing, I mention the FTC and then the ole sales manager seems to have another phone call….my two cents worth….

Garmin gps 12 as well. I learned how to use it driving from home to the lake one day while wife was driving the truck. I like using it as a speedometer in boat, and or truck, how long to get to a particular spot…….he go-to-waypoint feature, sunrise, sunset feature, clock, and of course finding and keeping fishing hotspots. I have the dash mount on my truck and boat and bought the ac adapter for use in the truck.

Last week a guy snagged a paddlefish, legally during the season, on the james river arm of table rock lake in Missouri. It broke the MO state record and was something like 139 lbs 6 oz or so…….84″ long…..

If you have a reputable fly fishing shop in the area check with them. I know when I see a fly I like, I buy one for pattern and then if can not figure out how to tie, I go to local shop and the owners usually are more than happy to show you how to tie it. Plus when I am there I buy some supplies to “pay” for their advice. What about hair stackers men, didnt see mention of this tool. I “stack” my hair so the ends all line up, pull out of stacker then trim butt ends so that they are squared and easier to start the tieing procedure. Good vice, thompsons AA bout $20 bucks, i use waxed mono thread, and a good bobbin. I have about 6 bobbins with diff color thread so I dont have to mess with switching threads…worth the few bucks apiece for less hassle. PM if you have ?, but some qualified “tiers” here on the board.

Wash and dry filets. Mix 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup corn meal, 1 teaspoon baking powder or Wondra, several shakes of Emeril Lagasse’s Na orleans bam. Dip filets in buttermilk, then dredge in flour mix and pan fry in hot oil….3 mins a side…….set on paper towels and serve with fries…kids and wives eat em up.

I also made a wooden live well outa wood scraps pops had behind the shed. Painted it inside and out and drilled a plug hole on side near bottom. In summer I fill with a 1 gal milk jug with hole cut on top so it works like a scoup. If fish get sluggish, I fill milk jug and dump and then refresh with clean fresh lake water. Not fancy, but since Im cheap as heck, works well…….Did fashion a padded seat on top of lid so kiddo has place to sit when take mom or dad out on rare occasion that they do go.

I love to watch Hank Parkers tv show. He consistently catches the smallest fish, but has his kids with and is such a good personality. In-fisherman is the best by far, not even anyone close to second place for me. Was fishing a small lake north of Brainerd one day, way out in the boonies and here comes Jim Lindner and the oldest bro, cant recall name, really nice and cordial. Fun to see those boys out fishing and had a young man with them, giving him pointers.

If we were not meant to eat animals, God would have not made them out of meat. Peta is sure-fire proof that we need more chlorine in the gene pool. They have no concept of overpopulation and disease related to this. They have no idea (and no need to research, just cuz they say so) that the snow goose is eating itself out of house and home and the small goslings cannot mature in the far north because the adults have eaten all the food. The far lefties can survive and prosper because they prey on basic human ignorance and the inability of people to think for themselves. Plus its such a cute and fuzzy, warms the cockles of your heart to think Mr. Brer Rabbit and Wile E. Coyote can co-exist and eat from the same lil food box. My daughter tells me stories that come from her school and I just scratch my head, these people got teaching certificates….good gawd…mail order correspondence courses I guess…..rambling here, got me upset and had to fire off……good posts folks…..

I have been using an Olympus D-460 for 18 months now, nothing but fantastic. Truly point and shoot and easy to figure out, did so over dinner one eve. When the battery packs run out, buy the lith ion energizers and they will last for about 250 pics, and cost less than ten bucks at a “-mart”.

I remember back in the day before my old man had a 4×4 he used chains….the old Ford would go thru anything. If you can find them, there are chains,,,,,,have a set for my yamaha 4 wheelie….that have extra points coming off…..cant describe, because not elloquent enuff with works……..but not just chain, they have chains and points….perhaps others could describe in more detail. These suckers would work on ice….If need be, I could take a couple quick digi pics…..

I buy my jigs in bulk from Cabelas as well, and use the powder paint, such as Jon J does…..then bake them. Seems to work quite well….easy to do, just dont heat too much or else you get too much paint on jig and when you bake them, it drips in oven and momma doesnt care for that mess in her oven…..

I hunt and fish with an ole feller (83 yrs old) who grew up around Rice Lake WI. I really dont like to do either due to the fact, that he is a meat pig. From the stories I have heard (over and over) I believe the reason he is this way, is from upbringing and the need to catch what you need to eat and steal what you needed to survive. His father passed away way young, and this gentleman was in the position to provide for the family at at a young teen age. I try to get him to CPR but only way to do it is the ole……..oops..fell in the water. Luckily hes not a very good fisher anymore and I can shake off fish if need be, and really just like to get him out of the house. But all this being said…..I think he would like to keep everything, because back in the day, thats what they did.

If us law abiding sportsmen “shoot” a poacher, is that still a crime, or a citizens arrest………J/K, sometimes I would like to do that, but understand the ramifications. Congrats to the helpers and Warden Stone for a job really well done. I get p/o’ed sometimes when I get stopped for a license and pfd check, but understand its the rules and their job…..keep on getting on…….

Stern mount electric is also for backtrolling on lakes when you dont have the huge roller waves. Kicker is for trolling cranks or backtrolling in those aforementioned rollers if you have splash guards. If you are drifting you can also control your drift my keeping the big motor down and using it as a rudder and “bumping” on/ off the bow mount to slow your drift

I have been using my Garmin GPS 12 for 18 months now, two mounts, one for boat and one for truck and cigarette AC adapter. Use it hunting, skiing (out west, too many runs), fishing and just ETA planning on roadies. For 150 bucks has been great for me. Figgered out how to use it driving from the cities to Brainerd one afternoon. I then sat down at home and put in all my points from the whiffer map…

Love to see some trout folks as I dust off the long pole for a weekend of trout fishing in SE Missouri @Roaring River State Park. I have briefly perused the Root system while traveling but never fished it….looks inviting. Welcome aboard John.

Congrats on the nice football Steve. Graphites are the way to go. As long as you have length and girth and a pic, a taxi can do wonders. They cost the same as tradional mount(or close) and are way easier to care for. Get dusty…..wipe em off. Plus they look great for yrs….and can be repainted if they fade after a number of yrs….Hoping to hook a fat smallie next week in Boundary waters.

I am going fishing this weekend, and camping, and going to the local dirt track to take in some races. I need a weekend away from the TV and the ongoing coverage. I had a highschool buddy nearly killed in the tragedy, and an online pal, one of her co-workers sister was on one of the planes that landed in the WTC. I just need to get away. Drown some worms and some beers and come back Sunday to see what has transpired…..my daughter has seen what has happened, I have explained to her what and why these animals did this, and I now feel the need to get her outa town and have fun with her and my wife….

If we alter our lifestyle and way we do buisness, its what the terrorists want. They want us to live in fear and terror and to look over our shoulders………Play the games, make bin-Laden check himself and say “damn, I did not do much to those blue jean wearing, rock and roll listening, hot mama dancing at the pub infidel dogs……..

Have seen them over reservoirs in ks as well. Pop up over the dam and cruise the lake. We wave to em, and have even had one or two give us a lil wing wave…kinda cool. Kind of a lil whistle when heading towards us then the whooosssshhh of the jets when they pass…..
