Without a doubt the best all purpose rod is the 6-8 Legend Elite spin-ES68MXF- They may seem a little pricey until you try one, then you will feel the difference.

If you happen to know a custom rod builder, and you are looking for a great rod for a good price, be sure to check him out before you buy a store rack rod. My brother-in-law had my name for Christmas this year and I was curious what my gift would be. I knew he had taken a rod building class about 8-9 months ago and he was actually getting pretty good at crafting custom St. Croix rods. Well low and behold my gift just happened to be a custom Legend Elite ice rod. He found a cracked blank at his supplier and built the whole thing for around 30 bucks. You want to talk about a sweet 32″ med. action walleye rod-WOW. I wont buy another retail rod until I first check to see if he can come up with what I am looking for.

Try calling Lakemaster, I contacted them on another subject and they were very helpful.

Not sure about Big Round or Blake, but I was on Wappagaset on Fri. and there was about 10″ of ice and no slush. You should have smooth sailing, just not sure I would trust the ice for driving a truck out though.

There is a product called Tear Mender I purchased at my local hardware store, it is a fabric adhesive designed for this purpose. As for the fabric, I got a large piece from a truck accessory shop that also makes pontoon covers. They just gave me a chunk for free. Total cost was $3.50.

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like we might try to head over that way in mid Feb. Hopefully they get some colder temps to make some more ice over there. I will post the results upon returning. Just one more question, does anyone know what mapping chip for my Lowrance H2O has the best detail for LBD. I noticed that Lakemaster has a new card for the Winnebago Chain including Green Bay and LittleBayDenoc and BigBayDenoc. Lakemaster chips are usually the most accurate so this might be my best option.
    Thanks again guys. Rob

Hey Bobber, was thinking about coming up Fri. Are you accessing the lake off of Big Point? I kind of wanted to stay away from the normal zoo up on the north flats but are they accessible from the south?
    Thanks

Me and the little lady are going to Brett Favres Steak House in GB to ring in the New Year and get primed to go see Brett play for possibly the last time ever.
