If you got the 73cv and the GT8 all you should need is the 4 to 8.

EchoMap units have Garmins LakeVu Maps PreLoaded into them…that is the main difference. Quick release bracket, SD Card Slot, now with the PLUS models touch Screen in the 7 and 9 is also what makes them great.
Striker units are fishfinders NO mapping and can not have maps loaded later. However in the new PLUS models you can do quickdraw and download quick draw with the new active captain app.
October 18, 2017 at 11:51 am #1721680Guys we will have it at the St Paul, Milwaukee, Duluth Ice Shows as well as Scheels, and Cabela’s Ice Events come check it out. It is really cool plus the new ice transducer Garmin has in the kit along with the Panoptix is unreal. 500W Chrip ice ducer!!
March 30, 2017 at 9:45 am #1685219Also there Ultra card is great for the Max Def Lakes in MN and WI.
Winnie, Cass, Bemidji, Vermilion, White Bear, St Croix River, Winnebago. Those lakes Garmin mapped with their own boats with Panoptix so the mapping is most accurate ever made on those lakes.
March 30, 2017 at 9:43 am #1685218Map updates come spring and fall I believe and what I would encourage everyone to do is register your product with Garmin Express. That is how the map updates will work. I cannot wait for the new updates I bet there is some great stuff coming from Garmin on this!!

Panoptix takes ice fishing to the next level!

Here is a better video on it
January 31, 2017 at 8:18 am #1670070nhamm you can also just by the GT8IF ice fishing transducer for the 73CHIRP and use it for ice fishing even without Panoptix. With that quick release bracket you could move the unit from boat, atv, ice unit really easily.
January 30, 2017 at 8:24 pm #1669993So there are a bunch of variables to answering how long it will last since there is no standard kit yet but I can tell you that my kit is a EchoMap CHIRP 73cv with the GT8IF ice fishing transducer and PS21 Transom Mount Panoptix hooked to it that is hooked up to the 7ah batter that came with the portable kit. The PS21 transom mount Panoptix that is hooked up to my EchoMap CHIRP 73cv is powered by a 9ah battery. My unit would run all day 9 hours and not die…I never actually ran it dead to get an exact timeline. The PS21 powered by the 9ah batter would land 8 hours.
You can use the Panoptix for watching your jig straight down as well but it is best for looking out to find schools.

Thanks I have been out about 7 times now using Panoptix for ice fishing and i have to say it is something that will change ice fishing as we know it.
I think they are looking but there is a lot of things out there for Panoptix so I am sure its just a matter of time.
Scott,
I know Panoptix seems expensive but since it is such a new technology it is expensive to make still I am sure. Also if you look at what the competition charges for just a ice unit $700 – $1650 for something that can only be used in the winter and only looks strait down I think Panoptix is not to bad. for $1700 someone could get into Panoptix for ice fishing and have it for summer fishing. It is not cheap but it is very cool stuff.
January 26, 2017 at 9:01 pm #1669013I just spend the last few days testing this on Mille Lacs and on a crappie fishing lake and all I can say is wow! From watching my buddy 60 feet away reeling in a 27″er to following the crappies around without guessing where they were…Panoptix is such an amazing ice fishing tool!
December 28, 2016 at 2:58 pm #1660387Troy,
The problem is Panoptix is made to be mounted in your boat right now and not for ice fishing. So initially i dont think they thought people would want 7″ screens for ice fishing and this wouldn’t of been a problem however with bigger screens being more popular for ice fishing and panoptix gaining attention for ice fishing as well I would stay tuned to see what will be coming!!
December 28, 2016 at 2:12 pm #1660382Biggill…standby…There will be some very cool videos coming on this in the near future
December 28, 2016 at 2:11 pm #1660381Troy,
You would need a 4 pin Transducer to 8 pin sounder #010-11948-00, and then an 8 pin to 12 pin 010-12122-10
If you are using a Minn Kota trolling motor with that unit you would have the 8 pin to 12 pin already.
December 28, 2016 at 2:05 pm #1660378Troy,
I am a walleye guy and do a lot of jigging, rigging, trolling and under the boat stuff for the most part so I go with the Panoptix PS30 Transom mount Transducer for my Panoptix. IMO this is the best all around option for a guy that fishes like that especially when using a Ultera or Terrova up front.
Below is a picture from Warrior Boat Centers Demo Boat..I tried to put an arrow pointing at the transducer but the arrow is a little high. However if you look close you will see where they mount the transducer.

December 28, 2016 at 8:35 am #1660321Fishwater…if you are looking for something to use for jigging in the summer to pair with your Garmin Units take a look at Panoptix PS30. There is nothing comparable.
I spent a lot of time jig raping with it and even drop shot fishing smallies absolutely amazing.
December 27, 2016 at 8:23 pm #1660259Jeff,
Happy to see you are enjoying your electronics!! I missed your call the other day but was in a spot I know you know very well!
Those screen shots are great! Panoptix especially LiveVu Down is something I think will change sonar forever as we know it! Now I can look at my screen and say there is a walleye 10 feet passenger side and 3 feet off bottom and put my bait right in its face vs. just looking at an arch on a screen and assuming the fish is somewhere under the boat but no idea how he reacted to the bait, boat, structure anything.
That is what Bjorn and I did during the AIM and had 25#s in the boat in a hour..truly amazing.
Below is a screen shots from Leech Lake last summer:

December 27, 2016 at 8:17 pm #1660258This is something that I found myself using as well even on lakes that I know just because it gave a more realistic time and path to follow during tournaments when making longer runs last summer. Especially on LOTW and Leech where it was rough.
James did a great quick video on this:

You will for sure need an adapter to hook up the GT8IF (Ice Fishing Transducer) to the EchoMap CHIRP 73 and up.
I had an extra Garmin Portable Pack so I put my EchoMap CHIRP 73cv in there and used a Ram Mount to mount it to the already in place nuts. Worked out very well actually and the portable pack came with the bag, bracket, battery, and a suction cup transducer to use when I rent a boat up in Canada.
I took a few quick pictures:

December 27, 2016 at 1:54 pm #1660166Hey Matt,
I had the 7″ model in the front of my boat all summer for sonar…The Stiker units are amazingly clear and have great sonar! They are full CHIRP and and have great bright clear screens and you get the added benefit of a GPS for speed, position and a waypoint map to save fishing spots.
