How is the ice fishing in Stoddard? I live in Newhartford Iowa but have a trailer in Seneca WI. Love to ice fish Stoddard. Hoping to make it up there the 16th and the 23rd. hopefully the fish are on the bite.
Well I havent had time to check my post for a few days do to the weather here in Iowa, and my folks camped out at my place because of power issues. But I got more replies than I expected. Lots of great information guys, thanks alot.
That warm weather had me keyed up. Have to pick up some trolling motor parts but other than that the boat could be ready in a couple hours. Mother nature needs to hurry and melt that Genoa ice. Eyetracker, I am also from the waterloo area. Do you fish here locally much?
Ecnook. I see that your from the Prairie area. Ive always fished further north by Lansing in the summer time. How is the walleye fishing around Prairie, or down stream a little ways?
Reading the river is not as hard as you think. If your in the main channel just stay between the markers. When you go outside the markers watch for anything that disrupts the current, take it slow and keep your eyes open and you will do fine.
Not complaining but just asking, why is it we have to pay at the Falling Rock boat landing? I believe the fellow outdoorsman already pays enough in taxes, fishing license, boat registration, boat trailer license.
I know a guy in Waterloo that makes alot of jigs and one eyes. What are you looking for,Painted jigs, hair jigs, or plain jig heads? Also what kind of numbers are you looking for? Email me at [email protected]
I’m heading to Genoa tonight to try the night bite. I’ll post a report when I get back. I guess its going to be cold and windy so that might make for some tuff fishin.
I like to fish on the north side of the dam right on the cement ledge. I’ve tried wading to other holes by the bridge but don’t have as much luck. I like to throw straight out and slowly drag my jig back along the bottom rather than normal jigging. I seem to feel the fish better but whatever works best for you. I’m not reel familiar with the Nashua area except for the dam. Is there good walleye fishin above the dam or farther down stream? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Good luck and Happy Holiday’s.
Yes the boat landing is by the power plant. And yes caught the fish right below the dam. Talked to my dad last night and he got his limit in about 2hrs yesterday and is going out agian today. Being retired he gets to fish during the week to avoid the crowds.
Plan on going to the River Friday morning. I heard they were smacking walleyes and sauger below Genoa dam. I havent decided if I should try the Winneshiek Area (a favorite area)or head up to Genoa.
