I have been using this recipe. The only Beans I will eat are Bush’s so that is what I use, but that is only personal preference! I usually throw some left over pulled pork in as well. Have never tried it with brisket. Also love to throw in a couple diced up Jalapenos. Throw this on the smoker for a couple hours and they are amazing!!

How to BBQ Right is an amazing site! I have yet to not like one of his recipes! It is a great basis for making some of your own recipes!!

Been watching most of the finals games only because of the Bucks! One thing I will say is Booker, is one hell of a talent, but it makes me sick to see him complain about EVERY single play!! I have never seen anything like it!

Wow, I hesitated to reply to this post right away as I didn’t want to jump on and say you should have bought this or that! Well, now that everyone else has, buy a Rec Teq!! I have had a Green Mountain for years and needed a new one so I could have one at the cabin and at home. A friend of mine told me to take a look at the Rec Teq. SO glad I did. I bought the 700, and it is a tank! I would recommend these grills to anyone!! The amount of clean blue smoke this thing puts out is amazing! I have also never seed a controller hold temp so steady! Great product!

Also has a 6 year bumper to bumper warranty on it!!

I purchased my first NRX last year. That was not a smart thing to do. Now I want more! It is the best feeling rod I have ever fished with! I just smile thinking about it!! With that said, I think it really depends how you fish. I love to jig (jigs, rippen raps, shiver minnows). That is one technique that can be GREATLY improved with a higher end more sensative rod. Any type of finesse application benefits from extra sensitivity. If you are more of a power fishing guy then the sensitivity is not really your main focus, but like Randy said fishing all day long with a higher end “lightweight” rod is much more enjoyable and less fatiguing! My recommendation, go to the NW Sportshow and get yourself a NRX. It will be the lowest pricing you can find! You wont regret it!

I think pairing a reel is important with a vertical jigging rod, especially if you are fishing big water/out of a boat with high sides.

Line plays a huge role though. If you are straight up vertical jigging with braided line, then I really don’t think you are going to feel any more bites with a super high end rod vs. a $100-$150 rod.

The experience will be much different though, I know I love the ‘feel’ of a high end rod, but sometimes it doesn’t translate to more fish.

Totally agree on a truly vertical presentation, but I am not a big fan of vertical jigging if I don’t have to!

I really like the Devil Dave’s mix. It is a powdered mix you add to your liquid. I do a 50/50 V8 and Clamato with a little pickle juice! Have also been adding bourbon in place of the vodka! If you have not tried it, you have to! Making me thirsty!!

Overton’s had a 40% off code last week. They have a 30% code going on now through the 17th also I believe. WATER30 is the code.

Well, I hate to be the guy that does not take anyone’s advice, but ended up running across an amazing deal on 2 Diawa Ballistic LT reels for almost half price. I hope I don’t regret it, but I am going to give them a try! Thanks for all the input. I do have several of the Pflueger Arbors and like them, especially for lighter baits.

I agree with a longer lighter action rod for sure. I have also had days with ripped raps that I had to really change the way I fight fish. I did a guided trip over in Green Bay a couple years ago and I was getting hit but could not keep the fish pinned. The guide finally told me not to pump the rod. I was in the habit of reeling down somewhat then fighting the fish to a high rod tip and repeating. He told me to keep a higher rod tip and to reel keep the tension. More of a steady reel if that makes sense. It is somewhat hard to explain.

Can you usually get some good deals on electronics at the show? Would like to get a 12″ and a 10″ unit. Thanks in advance!

We were out of Appledorn’s. Same for us, very slow. We had 3 fish for the weekend. Marked a fair number of fish, but not aggressive at all. Glad we were not he only ones!!

I was in the exact same spot last summer. I found this on Craigslist and it was a great mat!

Give them a call for better pricing. I ended up driving west of the cities to pick it up from his warehouse (Dassel, MN). I got the 22′ x 6′ x 2″ mat for $399. Much better price than any were else I could find for that size!!
