I’m going to order some from Cabelas – it sure looks similar

I have 4 Bluetipz and a receiver. Great investment – it pays off on those super cold nights. On those nights where you have tipups a ways away from you, the flashing indicator light on the top is helpful to figure out which flag is flying while dark.

Now that I’ve used the Panoptix on the ice about 3 or 4 times, I’ve found that I’m using it a different way than I thought I would. I use the LiveVu Forward for scouting (find edge of weeds 40′ away) and then once I’m at a location I switch to LiveVu Down and use that for jigging instead of using the ice transducer. In about 15′ of water it reads 10′ left or right – which is really awesome to see a minnow on a deadstick start swimming away and watching a pike swim in at it!
I still need to switch to a lithium battery – as this sure isn’t set up for hole hopping!
I agree – Joe has every right to be upset. I too was upset waiting for LX-9 updates. I really loved the unit but it was (and is) inexcusable for Marcum to ignore the customers that bought their highest priced unit at the time.
I gave up and sold my Marcum LX-9 a month ago. I switched to a Garmin Panoptix unit and am not looking back.
I just got the Panoptix Ice Bundle. I’ll post some reviews once she gets on the ice, and I think it’ll be a great tool but oh-my-goodness is it heavy. 17lbs 14oz!
So something like this VMC X-Rap Tail Treble would have done the trick then? [EDIT: I should have just read the Youtube video description – VMC Feather Treble – thanks!]
What size/color worked on the lake trout show for the tingler spoon?
Carbon Monoxide poisoning strikes again – just a few days ago in the U.P.
You can never be too careful! Good advice on the venting or just plain bundling up.
The ion battery and charger is really similar to the Greenworks, Ryobi, etc 40v batteries. In fact, the only difference I’ve seen between the Ion and the Ryobi 40v lithium ion batteries is that the connectors are reversed (male-female connections)
Here’s the charging specs for the Greenworks 40V charger:
SPECIFICATIONS
Input: 100-240V AC 50-60Hz,1.5A Max
40V charger: 29482
Output: 40V DC 2A
Translation: a 400 watt inverter would be fine. Watts = Amps x Volts. You’d probably get by fine with a 200 watt. (1.5A * 110V = 165 Watts)
There are shallow water issues (won’t read in 10′ or less). Marcum pushed the LX-6 & LX-7 update out in October, yet we haven’t been able to test that this even fixes the issue yet.
Video playback on the LX-9 is sluggish. Want to play a clip that you recorded? Click on it (have fun finding it), then wait about 8 seconds for it to play. Video finished? That’s fine. The screen will just go black for about 12 seconds while you’re left wondering what the heck happened.
There’s no need to have Sonar just ticking away while you’re only using video.
This is a lesson for those eyeing the RT-9. If Marcum is sluggish and reluctant to support these products, just wait until we hear about the issues with people trying to sideload or install Android apps on the RT-9. (Who knows which version of Android they even have on there?). I can’t imagine they spent a ton of time testing it for situations like that.
And don’t forget all the delays with the RT-9 even coming to the market. There were so many explanations (FCC Approval, etc), when it very well could have been contracted software developer issues the entire time.
I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on Marcum. I own a LX-3TCi, a LX-5 and a LX-9, and I took the leap after having a Vexilar FL-18. This isn’t Vex vs Marcum.
This is Project Management 101 and Customer Service 101. Marcum needs to answer before this situation continues to unravel.
I saw you guys were using 10# 832 for your main line – what type of leader did you use on your setup for the show? 10# fluoro?
Yeah – no word from Marcum.
On a related note, looks like 2 of the most prominent folks from MarCum that highly promoted the LX-6 thru LX-9 line (Steve Hanson & Jon Marshall) have departed MarCum to form their own Sporting Goods marketing company (Marshall and Hanson), and MarCum isn’t one of their partners.
I wonder, with these recent departures does that mean the MarCum line is going to get less attention?
Can you check the voltage of the battery without it being connected to the Marcum? This sounds like a crappy battery issue.
Marine General has the 12v 8ah batteries for $9.99 starting on Thursday – I’d pick one up and try that out.
LX-9 guys, this isn’t looking promising (Marcum just replied to a comment on Facebook when asked about the LX9 update):
“The LX-6 and the LX-7 use the same code, that is why they are released at the same time. The code for the LX-9 is in progress, but does not have a release date as of yet.”
If the LX-6 & LX-7 code took this long, then how long is it going to take for the LX-9, which also has video & dvr capabilities?
