I’ve been going to Nashville two to three times a year for the past several years. I do not go downtown to often and when I do I am usually out of there be 6 PM. I prefer classic country music and focus on the venues that play them. That would be Robert’s Western World and AJ’s downtown. A few other bars at times have the older music such as Nashville Crossroads, Layla’s and The Second Fiddle. I always stay by the Music Valley area, by the Gaylord Hotel. There are 3 bars that play classic country music exclusively and a forth that is pretty good as well. The Nashville Palace, The Scoreboard, Music City Bar and The Troubador are within walking distance of each other with plenty of hotels within walking distance as well. All of the hotels offer downtown shuttles which leave every hour for about $10 round trip. There is a liqour store a couple of convenience stores and several restaurants within walking distance as well. The Gaylord Hotel is worth seeing and the Opry Mills shopping center with a huge Cabela’s is also within walking distance. And finally the General Jackson showboat is always a fun trip which offers an excellent meal, a show and a nice trip up and down the Cumberland river.
