still debating between the E40 and the Ion plus , both with composite flights, thoughts guys>

Thorne Bros has the E40 composite 8″ on sale for $495. Using the code DW2024 gets it down to $396 plus free shipping. To me the price difference makes it an easy decision.

I’ve owned an Eskimo Shark Z51, original Ion, Ion G2, Strikemaster Lite Flite, Pistol Bit, and the E40. The E40 is without a doubt the best auger I’ve had. I’ve kept the E40 and the Pistol Bit – all I can imagine ever needing.

*I should have included that the E40 I have is the 8″ composite model

Just pulled the trigger on a MAGS rod. I was debating the TUCR fusion or a MAGS and the price made the decision for me.

You won’t be disappointed. Pat’s rods are among the best out there.

Update – customer service replied after 2 days and my glasses showed up a few days later. Just wish you received an email when they ship.

For those of you that placed orders with RLVNT, how long did it take to receive your sunglasses? I placed an order on 11/24 and haven’t heard anything aside from the order confirmation. I emailed their customer service, but have not received a reply yet.

Great, honest report as I was on the fence for one of these or a Blackfish Gale. You just helped me decide.
    Thx Jon

Here is my review after a week of using this pull over. Mostly walking the dog in 25-35 degree temps and putzing around in the garage.

Size XL runs smaller compared to an IDO or Carhart hoodie. No room to layer up. There is no stretch in this pull over. Probably would have been happier with a 2XL (6 foot 200 lbs guy here who does not own any 2XL)

Since there is no room to add layers, this pull over is not that warm. Even on an 2-3 mile hikes in 25-30 degree temps, still a little chilly for me. Will not be using this on the ice for sure.

This is a quality made product with a lot of nice features. Very comfy. I expect to get a lot of use out of this March/April/May.

For $99 bucks, it is a nice pull over. At full retail, I’d probably take a pass.

I have both. The BF Gale gets my vote

At least on the Amped website, they are very clear that should not use the LiFePO4 chargers on the NMC batteries and vice versa.

Charging: All Amped Outdoors NMC batteries must be charged with supplied 16.8V Charger. Using any other charger could cause damage to the battery. Do not use ANY Amped Outdoors charger on a battery without a BMS such as SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries

For Amped Outdoors 14.8V Batteries Only! Do not use with 12.8V LiFePO4 batteries or 11.1v NMC batteries.

I got an 8″ from Scheels

Arclab. Hands down. All aluminum shuttle, for you guys in the states it comes from canada so it’s 35 cents on the dollar to your benefit. Also the best pole system.

I looked these up. They look really nice, but after adding the pro series ice pole bundle and a 5200 shuttle to my cart the total was $565 American (and that’s with free shipping). For just the ice pole bundle it’s $363. That’s more than I’d want to spend on a transducer pole.

In the Garmin section there is a fairly extensive post about the subject.

I’ve checked twice now and I’m not seeing anything that’s real specific to ice fishing, especially since the new LS transducer came out. Maybe I’m missing it?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Decided to skip this one, especially once I checked the vendor list and saw no Reed’s or Marine General.

I have the regular and XL. Can’t say enough good things about them. Lightweight yet rugged. If you’re going to leave your rods rigged when you put them in, make sure you loosen the drag all the way.

So now that I missed the great deal on Marcum 12ah lithium ion batteries at Scheels sale last weekend. What is the best battery to get and where is the best place to find it. I’m sure this discussion has been discussed here in the past, but want the most current updated info possible. If anyone is finding any great deals out there please share. Since the battery in my Vexilar needs replacing this year, I figured I might as well jump on the Lithium wagon this time.

If you’re just using it for a Vex, I would go light as possible. Flashers don’t draw many amps. Here’s a link to FishUsa clearance deal on an Amped Outdoors 6 ah LiFePO4 that weighs 1.8 lbs. If you watch deals FishUsa is having you can get them even cheaper. I ordered 2 as back ups the other day during a buy any St Croix rod and receive 25% the rest of your order. Got them for $30.xx ea.

Just want some input on what everyone uses for their ice fishing bibs. This will be my pair of Ice Armor Extremes fifth winter of use and they were starting to lose some of their water proofing around the knees. Other than that they were great. And are the Simms Challenger bibs worth all the hype?

Depends if you want flotation? If not, the Simms are extremely lightweight and comfortable. I wouldn’t say the warmest bib out there, but warm enough. If you want the best of both worlds, check out the Striker Apex.

Check out Norfin Klondaik. I’ve had Muck Arctic Pro, Korkers Polar Vortex,LaCrosse Iceman, and a few others. Norfins are by far my favorite. Very lightweight, not bulky, completely waterproof, built in retractable cleats, and removable liner.

Anyone tried the Whistlepig Piggyback Bourbon yet? Got a bottle for my bday but haven’t cracked it open yet.

Another one I’ll add to the list of relatively easy to find and affordable is Larceny. Very tasty.

I have the 2B rod cases (regular and XL) and they’re awesome. Not the Eskimo but very similar style. I’ve had every type of rod case/bag and these are by far my favorite.

Thanks for the heads up. I already have a 19ah NMC battery from Amped so if I do decide to pull the trigger I’d probably use that and sell the 30ah LiFePO4.

Does the new transducer not need the black box?

It still does. Just isn’t pictured for some reason. I confirmed with Scheels that it’s included.
