I’m old, I remember back in the 80s about the new Ice Age coming with the big Ozone holes over the polar caps. All our warmth was leaking into space. Can’t we bring back hair spray and the old style car AC refrigerant and drain off some of this global warming? Aqua Net – How it saved Mother Earth, there’s your new book.

Head East young man, the Mississippi awaits you. Lots of big, toothy critters to test your skills. And you have your choice of water type: hard or soft (sort of).
Be safe and enjoy.December 20, 2016 at 5:56 pm #1658548Is this still available? I have a HB 386 and I think this chip will work with it.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Good luckApril 11, 2016 at 3:22 pm #1612971Mike, I couldn’t agree more. I’ve fished with Marty a couple of times and it’s money well spent. I’m hoping to be able to catch another trip with in later this month or early May. I also agree about Everts, can’t say enough good about them, this new group or the old group. Real pros.
Keep it wet and safe.
February 23, 2016 at 1:46 pm #1601802Sweet! As my Dad used to say, “she’s big boned”, but I think hunterjoe is correct with plus sized. You got to keep the ladies happy to keep’em coming back.
February 1, 2016 at 10:59 am #1597026That’s a good area for a large variety of fish; walleye, pike, sauger, carp, cats, etc. In the spring they do net fishing out of that bay for rough fish. If you get a chance watch them when they do a clean out, it’s amazing the number and size of game fish that they toss (hopefully) back into the bay. Also be careful, there is current out there and it can be tricky.
December 12, 2015 at 10:50 pm #1584174OK, I stand corrected or dully warned or whatever. In any event we didn’t do any of that accept a catch and release after we had our limit. And if that’s illegal I’ll have to go fish somewhere in Russia because that would be to dumb even for the DNR to put a rule on. FYI – there is culling allowed in WI but it is mainly permitted to fishing tournaments such as B.A.S.S or PWT; which I don’t agree with since I think that is special treatment but I am in favor of keeping fish as healthy as possible after catching/releasing.
December 12, 2015 at 3:39 pm #1584108You can catch as many fish as you want, you just can’t keep over your limit so it’s catch and release after that or catch and cull. FYI- you can also catch fish that aren’t in season as long as you release them right away and aren’t targeting them. Dustin’s right and if you think about it it makes sense, what if you caught your limit the first hour? Pack your boat and go home? That would be silly. Straight lines to all and pray for ice.
December 10, 2015 at 8:47 am #1583576UPDATE –12/9 – Did some fishing on P4 (Red Wing area) and got lucky early despite all the boats on the water. Fished the Y with 50 other boats and did OK but the best luck was down by Bayside, the big bend down by Red Wing by the marina. Vertical jigging with plastics (purple ring and natural jerk minnows) in 10 – 14 fow was the ticket. We had our 18 Saugeye fish limit (15 – 19″) by 11:00am and then went into explore and fun mode. Caught some on the wing dams (another 30 boats there) and at the Canon R. confluence, also got a couple trolling with Dubuque rigs. The big surprise for me was a very small paddle fish, it was my first. Count was 28 keepers and 14 either to small or ruff, not a bad day on the water for the 3 of us. GL and ice is coming next week. Merry Christmas to all.
December 8, 2015 at 2:53 pm #1583107Nice report and thanks for the update. I’m heading out there tomorrow to give it a try before the weather turns nasty and cold. Don’t know if I’ll make it out again in Dec. or Jan. unless we get a little warmup (GO GLOBAL WARMING!). Just starting to know a few spots to fish after working the Miss for the last couple of years. I you get out again, let us know. Merry Christmas to all and to all straight lines.
November 23, 2015 at 2:18 pm #1579130When the conditions are just right I’ve fished walleye just like I fish smb, twitch a rap on the surface and wait for the hit. It’s very cool and lots of fun but rare. I’ve had it happen 4 times in 39 years. Not that I fish all that often, maybe 30 to 50 times a year (summer only, no ice for me).
November 23, 2015 at 2:11 pm #1579128Good to hear the water is up, that rain we got last week was impressive. Glad they’re pushing it down stream. Looking forward to getting out this week or next, hopefully it will have calmed down by then. Thanks for the report.
November 8, 2015 at 1:07 pm #157590411/8/2015. Crawdaddy, Dustin, Martin. Only fished the WI side for Saugeyes, used several different jigging spoons, mostly dark and bouncing off the bottom but caught largest fish trolling Raps in 12 – 18 fow. Fished WI channel for crappie, past the new landing, using plane hair jigs and beetle spins, fished deep and slow. If no fish in the first 10 or 15 casts we moved. That’s the advantage of having Marty the guide, normally I would stay and fish for an hour and get nothing and then move. Marty just went to a new spot.
Good luck to all, I’ll be back there again with Marty, money well spent, when the big chew starts.
November 6, 2015 at 10:42 am #1575575Linder’s (incredible knowledge)
Fishing Ed (good at explaining)
Waters & Wood (fishes our area but John needs to tone it down a bit)
Jo Buchner (just a good fisherman)
Jason Mitchell (just a good fisherman and explains techniques)Basically I want to watch and learn to fish better not watch a 10 min. infomercial.
Sorry IDO, you’re tops for ice but I don’t play that way.
November 6, 2015 at 10:29 am #1575571Spoil it! Come on Nick, it’s a fishing show not Game of Thrones. Throws us a little bone, just enough to wet our beaks.
November 6, 2015 at 8:59 am #157555111/5/2015 Wife and I and Marty Hahn (our guide) enjoyed a great trip on P4 (Red Wing) area. Limit (12) of Walleye/Sauger (15″ – 19″) fishing in 14 – 22 fow with a jigging spoon. Plastics and minnows were no good. Water was pretty warm and current was about normal. We then moved on to Crappie, caught 7 nice (11 – 12.5″) ones in 12 fow using hair jigs before the weather turned and we headed back to the dock. Marty, the guide, put us on the fish early and kept us there for 5 hours or so. Great way to spend a windy, cool fall day.

July 23, 2015 at 7:04 pm #1556160I’d try the bay of Green Bay (Door Co.). Lots of fish, big and small and it has everything (Pike, Eyes, SM, and Crappie) including shelter from the nastier weather and places to goes if it’s REALLY nasty. In Sept. you’ll be working the closer shore areas; get a guide for a day and they’ll show you some good spots and let you know what’s hot on that spot and that time: money well spent. Good luck and let us know how your trip goes. I’m done with Canada, to pricey (you have to buy a permit to buy a license – REALLY! No more of that rip-off for me) for what you get; 20 years ago they were a good bargain but no longer. WI, MN, SD have just as good fishing for a fraction of the cost and hassle.
January 17, 2015 at 11:30 am #1498817I think Monday is the 19th. After the last cold snap it might be a little icy. If you go please post so I know that I missed a good chance to get out.
March 15, 2013 at 4:05 pm #1152386There is a difference between what’s “right” and what’s legal. As a lake shore owner (that means I pay BIG taxes for the chunk of dirt) I want everyone to enjoy their time on the water, including ME (family). People come down the shore all the time fishing and boating and it’s nice to see them having a good time. That being said I’ve had strangers tie their boats to my dock ’cause my boat wasn’t tied to it or us my dock ’cause I wasn’t using it or start to have a picnic cause we weren’t there. Yes, enjoy, have a good time but use some very uncommon common sense. Stay off private property when ever possible and always try to get permission first. The thing I hear most is “well it’s not hurting anything”, but that’s not the point. It’s NOT yours is the point, that person is most likely paying hundreds of dollars every month in taxes just so they don’t have to share their “park” with you.
March 15, 2013 at 3:34 pm #1152360Done a little casing into the channel from the dyke but basically only fished the channel during open water. Use a slow presentation when from shore, cast out to mid-channel and slow work in. They seem to like it there; biggest from there was 28″. Made me happy.
